Question 1: After Dudley learnt of Mrs Figg's broken leg, why did he pretend to cry? He wanted to convince his mother not to take Harry along to the zoo. He hoped to convince his mother that he really cared for Mrs Figg. He knew he would be allowed to visit Mrs Figg in the hospital if he cried.
When a neighbor calls to say she will not be able to watch Harry for the day, Dudley begins to cry, as he is upset that Harry will have to be brought along on Dudley's birthday trip to the zoo. At the zoo, the Dursleys spoil Dudley and his friend Piers, neglecting Harry as usual.
Dudley pretended to cry because Harry was going to stay with Mrs. Figg while the Dursleys took Dudley and his friend Piers to the zoo for Dudley's birthday, but now Harry couldn't stay with Mrs. Figg and Dudley didn't want Harry coming to the zoo.
Hagrid lost his temper and tried to turn Dudley into a pig after... Uncle Vernon insulted Dumbledore.
Dudley got excited when he saw the snake move and he pressed himself against the glass which then magically vanished. He fell into the enclosure enabling the snake to escape. This caused chaos in the zoo, as people were running and screaming and the keeper of the reptile house was watching in shock.
For the most part, Dudley Dursley was nothing more than a spoilt, bullying, brute of a boy. However, after the incident with the Dementors in Order of the Phoenix, things changed a little bit. Dudley seemed to have a bit of a wakeup call and, dare we say it, grew as a person.
On losing his parents, Harry Potter is brought to live with Vernon and Petunia, who extend that fear and hatred to the boy and instill it in their own son, Dudley. As we know, this leads to years of bullying, bickering, and cruelty between the two boys.

When Dumbledore asked Hagrid to hand him over so he could leave him with the Dursleys, Hagrid clearly didn't want to be separated from him. Not only did he burst into tears, but he also worried like any parent would about leaving him there.
Voldemort visited their house ten years ago when Harry was just a baby. The evil wizard was determined to either get Harry's parents to join him, or to destroy them. This makes Hagrid cry. He continues that Voldemort killed Harry's parents.
His last words in the movie are, "I still don't understand why we have to leave." But he also has a deleted film scene where he has a final conversation with Harry, and his last line is, "I don't think you're a waste of space." In the final book, Dudley's last line is simply, "See you, Harry."
The fact Dudley thanked Harry for saving his life was a huge change from the last time the cousins had a proper interaction. They both mentioned the encounter with the Dementors, which hung over them, and Dudley went as far as to shake Harry's hand.
Dudley and his cousin Harry did not get along very well for most of their early lives. Like his parents, Dudley only thought of Harry as a huge burden to the family. Whilst Vernon and Petunia treated Harry poorly, they spoiled Dudley to the extreme.
Following the end of the Harry Potter series, Rowling provided insight into Dudley's later life. She revealed that Harry and Dudley were on better terms as they got older. Dudley went on to get married and have two children, albeit muggles, but he made it a point to keep in touch with his cousin.
Harry and Dudley maintained a relationship:
The once-estranged cousins made amends after Dudley's admission that Harry wasn't a “waste of space” and remained on “Christmas-card terms” as they grew older. However, their relationship never blossomed into a true friendship.
Moaning Myrtle
Born in the late 1920s to Muggle parents, Myrtle Warren started her Hogwarts life in the early 1940s, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw.
In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Hagrid tells Harry that he 'don' like cats' because they make him sneeze, which is why he chose to buy Harry an owl, Hedwig, for his birthday present. J.K. Rowling has also confirmed that felines are one furry creature Hagrid won't be friends with owing to his allergy.
"Hagrid is one of Voldemort's oldest associates, and knows his true identity" In Chamber of Secrets, it is revealed that Hagrid had been a student at Hogwarts during the same period that Tom Riddle (the true identity of Lord Voldemort) also frequented the school.
In fact, he lost so much weight that he was almost recast for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, but he ended up wearing a fat suit and keeping his job.
Petunia never showed any love and affection at all towards Harry because he reminded her of Lily and the wizarding world. She treated him as a waste of space, giving him the cupboard under the stairs at first and making him do all the chores. She, along with Vernon, ignored most of Harry's birthdays.
She made a promise to Dumbledore
As Lily's last remaining blood relative, if Petunia were to take Harry in it would seal the enchantment and provide him with protection from Voldemort. This would last as long as he could call the place where his mother's blood existed his home.
He spent the rest of the summer with Ron's family and did not see the Dursleys again until the summer of 1993. Harry sadly managed to get on the wrong side of his relatives within the first week of his return to Privet Drive.
Because while it is unclear exactly what Dudley saw, we can speculate and also go off of what Ms. Rowling has said, that a Dementor near Dudley forced him to see his greatest fear, which was him exactly as he was.
After Dudley and Harry encountered a dementor in Order of the Phoenix he became much more compassionate.
