Echo has long felt like the Bad Batch should be doing more. Since discovering that Rex is alive and working against the Empire, Echo wanted to join him.
The two also helped Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi free prisoners from the forbidding Separatist prison known as the Citadel, a mission that cost Echo his life -- or so his friends believed. When Echo's voice was intercepted in a Separatist transmission, Captain Rex became convinced his friend was indeed alive.
After a mission on Coruscant which led the Senate to find out what had happened to Tipoca City, Echo left the Bad Batch and decided to join Rex and his network to help discarded and in danger clones, notably through hijacking imperial ships to free prisoners.
They were both assigned on the deadly mission of infiltrating and rescuing Jedi Master Even Piell from the Citadel on Lola Sayu. The shuttle Echo was protecting was shot by a defensive turret, which destroyed the craft and consumed Echo in the blast, at which time he was presumed dead.
Having been captured by Separatist Forces during the Clone Wars, Echo was turned into a cyborg and used against his brothers - feeding strategies to the droid army. After being freed by Anakin Skywalker, Captain Rex and the Bad Batch, Echo joined the latter and was able to escape the effects of Order 66.

Bred and trained on the planet Kamino, CT-7567 entered into Republic service at the Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY. He gained respect from Jedi officers and clone troopers alike as an honorable commander, becoming known as one of the best and toughest clone troopers in the Grand Army.
Kix was alive sometime 30 years after the Battle of Endor. The trooper was awoken by a crew of Pirates, known as the Meson Martinet. It would be revealed that Kix was kidnapped by the Separatists.

The same procedure was later performed on Wrecker, Tech, Echo and Crosshair, but it wasn't nearly as treacherous as Rex's procedure. At least, for now, we know these clones have the freedom to live how they want without the chips impeding them.
In that episode's climax, Rex discovered the algorithm's origins in the voice of a fallen comrade: ARC Trooper Echo. The soldier had turned traitor. The revelation stirred a profound sense of regret inside Rex.
While Anakin secretly called Padmé, Rex guarded the barracks and even covered for him when Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived. This shows that Rex not only knew about Anakin and Padmé's relationship, but they trusted him to keep their secret.
Captain Rex is still alive, as far as we know. He faked his own death at the end of the Clone Wars so that he could operate in secret after the rise of the Empire. Rex eventually retired during the reign of the Empire before the Spectres recruited him to join the Rebellion.
In order to fake their deaths and hide from the new Galactic Empire, Tano and Rex recovered the clone trooper's body, burying him in Rex's armor and erecting a gravestone with an inscription claiming that Rex himself was the clone buried there, supposedly having heroically taken down the traitor Tano at the cost of his ...
Commander Rex did not betray the Jedi. He had removed his inhibitor chip beforehand. All clones had inhibitor chips implanted at conception. The inhibitor chip forced obedience on the parts of the clones by severely limiting their aggression and independence.

Echo was a nymph who was destined a fate that she could only repeat the sounds and last words of others. One day she spotted and fell in love with Narcissus. She followed him through the woods but could not speak without repeating his words.
The curse of Echo was to only repeat back the last words spoken by others. This curse was put on her by Hera, Zeus's wife, because Echo distracted Hera from finding out who Zeus was sleeping with.
