For one, the Velma team felt that Scoob was too much of a character for kids that including him in this new cartoon aimed at adults just didn't feel right. It just so happened to turn out that they were told by the studio that they couldn't use Scooby in the series anyway, perhaps with producers at Warner Bros.
Scooby Is Not Present
The exclusion of Scooby-Doo has resulted in criticism from viewers who were expecting the iconic talking dog to make an appearance on the show. According to Variety, Warner Bros. Animation made the decision to exclude Scooby-Doo from Velma due to the adult humor present in the series.

Trivia. Daphne's hair is orange because her biological mother smoked heavily while she was pregnant with her.
Velma is Indian in the new show. Her South Asian ethnicity is in tune with that of her voice actress Mindy Kaling, who is an Indian American. Moreover, lending further confirmation to the character being Indian are the names of her parents - Aman and Diya - both of which are names of Indian origin.
