We pet our pups to show our love and affection. Turns out they do the same. "By putting his paw on you whilst you are stroking him, he is further extending contact and reciprocating affection back," writes Rebecca Forrest, an assistance dog trainer, for The Dog Clinic.
Seeking Attention
A dog will push against you because he wants attention, affection, and comfort. They're smart enough to know that they will get a certain response by leaning on their owners. According to dog experts, canines will push against their owners to show love and seek out touch.
This is his way of saying that he trusts you and feels safe in your presence. He expects you to have his back. There is another set of glands present in a dog's backside that drives their actions. Dogs have scent glands present under their tails, which release large quantities of pheromones.
“[Dogs] can't communicate with humans in the same way [that] they communicate with other dogs, so they try and get your attention by nudging you or bumping into you,” Rice told The Dodo. “When a dog bumps or nudges you with their nose, it is usually because they want your attention or they want something from you.”
When they get older, they sleep with a pack to feel safe and close to their family. If your dog sleeps on you, your feet, or lays up against you, he is saying you're one of the pack. Resting his head or nuzzling you is also often a sign of affection. Your dog will most likely do this during the daytime, too.
Wild dogs exhibit similar behaviors, opting to sleep in small, confined areas with pack members they trust to protect against predators. When your dog sleeps right next to you, he is demonstrating trust in his “alpha” human.
Some dogs will choose one person to develop a deep and trusting relationship with that breeds comfortability. This means that they gravitate towards you because you're who they're familiar with.
Sexual behaviors, including mounting and thrusting, are part of normal play behavior. Dogs don't usually display erections or ejaculate in the context of play. Some poorly socialized or undersocialized dogs excessively mount other dogs in response to play solicitation.
Dogs are highly perceptive creatures, and many can sense when their owners are feeling sad, lonely, or disappointed. If you're feeling any of these emotions, they may try to cheer you up by pawing at your hands or feet to give you extra love.
It turns out your pup is essentially doing the same thing. Your dog loves you and appreciates you, so he may place his paw on you as a way of saying, “I love you.” whether or not he's stretching. If you were recently petting your dog, he might also put his paw on you to try to get you to scratch him some more.

Dogs don't know what a hug is because it conflicts with their own body language. Your dog might understand you mean them no harm, but the conflicting signals can still make them uncomfortable. There are better ways of showing your dog you love them rather than a hug.
Dogs really do love us unconditionally. Your dog follows you everywhere. If you feel like you can not take a step in the house without your dog at your heels, consider yourself loved. Dogs cling to you for more than just security.
Why Do Dogs Hump People? Humping behavior can be directed toward a person when a dog is excited. It is a sign of mental or emotional arousal. The behavior can be a physical outlet for the dog or a way of seeking attention.
Humping behavior is often a sign of energy arousal in dogs. They may engage in this behavior when playing with you, and when you settle down or ignore them, they may redirect their energy by humping your leg or nearby cushions. While it may not cause harm, it can be annoying for owners.

Like their human counterparts, dogs develop favorite people over time based on positive experiences and positive associations with that person. Some people use tasty treats and other rewards to create strong bonds with pets, but the best way to build a healthy relationship with your dog is through play.
Licking is a natural and instinctive behaviour to dogs. For them it's a way of grooming, bonding, and expressing themselves. Your dog may lick you to say they love you, to get your attention, to help soothe themselves if they're stressed, to show empathy or because you taste good to them!
Along with superior night vision, dogs have better motion visibility than humans have. However, because their retinas' contain only about one-tenth the concentration of cones (that humans have), dogs do not see colors as humans do. Dogs see like a color-blind human.
Act like the alpha of the back and show him who is boss. Look him/her in the eye: When you give a command, look straight at your pet. Make sure he can see that you mean business and that it is not a command to be disobeyed. Always hold eye contact with your pet, no matter how big or small he or she is.
