If you've got a contact photo set in Google+ or the like, it'll pull that photo automatically, so that's the photo which'll appear to others. The same is true for Exchange integration.
To get photos into contact, open Contacts, go to the contact and click Edit, then add a photo. Is this Messages in iOS or osX? Go to Settings>Messages>Show Contact Photos.

The Contacts app on Samsung Android phones has a feature called profile sharing. If you enable it, it lets you share your name, phone number and profile picture with all your contacts. The contact you're calling does not see your photo. They see whatever you have passed along to them that perhaps they save under your name in Contacts.

Each person should use their own Apple ID, and many things will get merged and combined when one is shared, such as photos. Make sure you are logged in to your own Apple ID in System Preferences ➡️ iCloud / Apple ID. It appears that your husband's iPhone and your Mac is sharing the same Apple ID account.
Most likely, you have your phone set to automatically copy all your pictures to your cloud account, such as Apple iCloud. Your husband is either using the same cloud account you are, or he has your iCloud password.
