The reason is because you want to give your body the opportunity to absorb the fluid it needs to recover. Whenever you're experiencing the signs and symptoms of dehydration, drink the amount of ORS that is most comfortable for you, and if concerned, always feel free to contact your doctor.
Directions for Use
Sip slowly and frequently while symptoms persist. Discard unused solution after 2 hours or 24 hours if refrigerated. Do not mix Hydralyte with cordial, fruit juice, soft or sports drinks.
Do no rapidly drink the required amount all at once – sip small amounts regularly (i.e., 1 – 2 sips every 15 minutes). Aim to slowly sip the required amount over the 6 hour period.
But Hydralyte isn't a replacement for water. On the contrary, it's a product that's been scientifically formulated to help you rapidly rehydrate once you're already experiencing the symptoms of dehydration. You should always aim to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water each day.
This product is used to replace fluids and minerals (such as sodium, potassium) lost due to diarrhea and vomiting. It helps prevent or treat the dehydration. Having the right amount of fluids and minerals is important for the normal functioning of the body.
Hydralyte Contraindications

Oral rehydration therapy, using an ORS such as Hydralyte, is a simple, proven intervention that helps rehydrate patients with mild or moderate dehydration symptoms faster than water alone. Various simple clinical signs and symptoms are often used to screen for dehydration (Box 1).
Hydralyte® Sports differs from standard sports drinks as it is high in electrolytes (such as sodium and potassium) and low in sugar (2%).
Common symptoms of dehydration include:
Headache. Dizziness. Dry mouth. Fatigue.
Hydrating with 200-400 mL of a product like Hydralyte before you go to bed, rather than when you wake up dehydrated, will go a long way to making the next day more bearable.
Hydralyte is a doctor approved oral rehydration solution with 18 years in the industry. Help stop headaches, fatigue, irritability and mental fog caused by dehydration. It has up to 75% less sugar and 4x more electrolytes than sports drinks.
Stay Energized with Hydralyte + Energy Boost
Your days might leave you feeling tired and lacking energy. Hydralyte + Energy Boost has everything you need to rehydrate with 7 key electrolytes, minus all the sugar of other hydration drinks.
Drinking an electrolyte before bed instead of a glass of water can also be helpful as the electrolytes will help the water get into the cells rather than just circulating in the bloodstream (creating the need for us to use the bathroom).
In general, however, it usually takes about two hours for your body to rehydrate fully after drinking a significant amount of water. As for how you should rehydrate, water is the best choice. Sports drinks, such as Gatorade, can be helpful for athletes who need to replenish electrolytes.
Hydralyte products are scientifically formulated to contain the correct balance of sugar, salt, and water for rapid rehydration. Hydralyte won't “cure” a hangover, but this electrolyte hydration formula will bring balance back to your body and make you feel better faster.
Anyway, moving on, Hydralyte have released a whole bunch of Electrolyte products for rehydration that you can use everyday.
Oral rehydration solutions such as Hydralyte can relieve symptoms of dehydration and help replace water and electrolytes – lost due to vomiting, diarrhoea, and heavy sweating – faster than water alone.
Is it OK to drink electrolytes every day? You can drink electrolytes every day (or choose to consume a supplement instead). This is especially necessary if you exercise and/or sweat often. Electrolytes will help replace minerals, such as sodium, magnesium, and potassium, that are lost when you sweat or get sick.
Make sure your skin is getting enough hydration and nutrients. Hydralyte + Collagen Boost has 5 Key Electrolytes for hydration, including magnesium and potassium to improve hair, skin and nails.
If you're dehydrated, it's okay to rehydrate with electrolyte drinks. If you're not dehydrated, though, and you drink too much electrolytes, you could make yourself sick by disrupting the balance.
