It's not just a pretty doodle or an homage to Beauty and the Beast; a golden rose is the sigil of House Tyrell. It symbolizes that Margaery is just putting on an act while she's a prisoner, and that she is putting her family first, or at least remembers exactly who she is.
Tell her that Olenna is under threat from the church. Margaery tells Olenna to leave, both so she stops challenging the church, but also because it is the “Mother's Mercy”, and Margaery has a personal reason for want.
Margaery simply told Lady Olenna that she still has her Tyrell roots hidden underneath the false faith in the Seven. The note also signified the importance of her request to Lady Olenna to leave the city immediately as it wasn't safe for her at all.
By the end, Margaery is a victim of the High Sparrow's incompetence. He underestimates Cersei and that's something Margaery Tyrell would never do." Both Margaery and Cersei were imprisoned by the Faith Militant and forced to answer to the High Sparrow.
It's my belief that the High Sparrow told Tommen about the Tyrells' involvement in Joffrey's murder. Judging by the tears in his eyes when he's about to tell Cersei, it seemed to be the worst possible news.
But when Jaime Lannister and Mace Tyrell led their army to stop Margaery's public humiliation, the High Sparrow informed them that Margaery won't be walking because she had already made her penance—by converting her husband, King Tommen, to the faith.
On Game of Thrones, the rose is the sigil of House Tyrell, and when Margaery gave her grandmother, Lady Olenna, a note with a simple drawing of a rose, she was confirming her loyalty to her house and her family above all else, so they wouldn't be fooled by her sudden piety.
She then tells her the lords of Westeros are all sheep and Daenerys is a dragon, so she should be a dragon. In "The Queen's Justice", Jaime Lannister seizes control of Highgarden on Cersei's orders. He confronts Olenna, granting her a painless death by poison, putting it in her cup of wine as she watches.
Of course, the audience already knew. In season four, episode four, Olenna reveals to Margaery that she was the one who poisoned Joffrey, explaining that there was no way she'd let her 'marry that beast.
History. Olenna Redwyne was betrothed to Prince Daeron Targaryen when they were both nine, but she claims she did everything she could to make sure it never came to fruition.
Margaery did not refuse Tommen in the marital bed. The boy was only 8 years old in the books when he became king. Not only was he way too young to consummate their marriage it would have been creepy and perverted if Martin write in the books that he did.
The sex scene in season five was a cringeworthy watch for viewers due to the age gap between Tommen and Margaery - with the young Lannister king aged around 12 or 13 while his new wife was many years older.
Margaery was a powerful and commanding presence in the series who, up until her very end, was one of the best players of the game and was always in control of her own destiny, but for the most part she was a decent person who did the right thing unless doing something wrong would benefit her or someone she loved.
Olenna did despicable things for her family but agreeing with Baelish to use Sansa in her worst of times was just too evil of her. First, she tried to marry Sansa to Loras to get control of Winterfell, then turned around and turned her into Tywin's enemy, a place even Olenna herself wouldn't want to be.
9 ROSES. A symbol of eternal love. You would often give this exact number of roses to those you wish to spend the rest of life with. In Chinese, nine is a homonym of long-lasting.
During the feast, the Tyrell matriarch sneakily took the poisoned stone from Sansa's necklace and put it in Joffrey's wine glass while he was mocking his uncle, cutting open his wedding cake with a sword, and just acting the pompous fool in general. The Kingchild drank the toxic alcohol and died - painfully.
Jaime comes in to finish off the Tyrell line himself, with a poison that he promises won't be painful (much nicer than the alternatives Cersei had proposed). After she guzzles the poisoned wine, Olenna confesses to Jaime that she was the one behind Joffrey's murder and tells him to pass that news along to Cersei.
But, we did have to wait until the first half of season seven before we finally had confirmation. Olenna finally reveals her crime when she is murdered by Jaime Lannister, Joffrey's uncle (and secretly, also his father).
Appearance and Character
Margaery is fair and lively, with a shy and sweet smile. She is regarded as beautiful or pretty by most. Tyrion Lannister considers her to be just as comely as Sansa Stark. Both Sansa and Cersei Lannister note the similarities in appearance between Margaery and her youngest brother, Loras.
Margeary Tyrell loved no one other than the members of House Tyrell. I think her greatest love was her brother Loras and no I don't mean in a weird incestuous way but an absolute, pure love for her brother. Margeary loved none of her husbands although she probably liked Tommen the most out of all of them.
What would happen if Margaery Tyrell had drank the poisoned wine that killed Joffrey? It would have been suicide. If Olenna was the one poisoning the wedding chalice both Joffrey and Margaery are drinking from, she would have included Margaery in on the plan.
Giving The High Sparrow Power
When Margaery marries Tommen, Cersei begins to see that she could be outmaneuvered by the new queen. In an effort to stop Margaery's rise to power, she gives power to the High Sparrow, a religious leader. He begins arresting those who have sinned, including Margaery and her brother.
The High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce) was famously evil to the most evil characters in the Seven Kingdoms. But any leader, religious or otherwise, who supports torture and public humiliation is at least a little bit evil himself.
In the books, though, Tommen is only 8. That doesn't stop his family from marrying him off to Margaery, but there is, thankfully, no consummation.
