If you're dealing with a shy guy, he might be too embarrassed to show you his interest. He feels awkward about his attraction to you. So instead, he only looks at you when you are looking away. He hasn't found the courage to either approach you or tell you how he feels.
The real truth…or why does a guy stare at a woman but not approach will and has always come down to one thing – he's feeling attracted to you but is either too scared, nervous, or clueless on how to approach you. Men, don't, or can not approach because: Fear of failure and sometimes success.
Some guys are just nervous or do not know what to say. They will see you, even wave but will not have the confidence to hold a full conversation. Do not feel bad for being too attractive that a guy cannot approach you; it's not you; it's him. If you are confident enough, you can approach him and see how it goes.
When you catch a guy staring at you and he doesn't look away, it means he is ready to show that he is interested and is here to stay. It could also be a sign of flirting where he indicates his romantic interest in you. If he doesn't look away while you look at him, hold his stare and see where it goes.
When a guy stares without a smile, he might be trying to get a read on you. He could be curious about your personality, interests, or how you're reacting to a particular situation. His stare is more about observation and gathering information than conveying any specific emotion.
There's no easy way to put it but a guy may avoid looking you in the eye if he doesn't feel a spark with you. Perhaps, there never was any spark from his side or it has faded over time. In both cases, especially when you're not aware that he is feeling this way, he'd try to avoid even looking at you.
He's Staring at You
If you notice he is making more eye contact with you or you catch a guy staring at you, he is probably attracted to you. He may be enthralled by your good looks and may be fantasizing about kissing you. Perhaps he stares at you and smiles; that could mean he likes you, too.
When a guy stares into your eyes and doesn't look away, he may be trying to size you up. Intently staring can be a good thing and might mean that he likes what he sees. Research indicates that in many cases of prolonged eye contact, both parties are interested in each other or maybe aroused.
When you lock eyes with someone, it shows you have strong feelings of attraction towards this person. When a guy locks eyes with you, it most likely means he is a very confident and courageous person and wants to use this prolonged look into your eyes to show you that he is interested in you.
He's asserting dominance.
If he's looking at you intensely without smiling and even looks angry or stern, he could be trying to assert his dominance. In this case, his stare will feel like a challenge—in his mind, the weaker one won't be able to keep eye contact.
Make eye contact.
If you see a girl you'd like to meet, try to make eye contact before talking to her. Look away for a few minutes then try looking at her again. If she catches you stealing quick glances at her, it will demonstrate to her that she has caught your attention and you are interested in her.
A man will often keep looking at the girl, even if she's trying her best to avoid his stare out embarrassment or in an attempt make it clear that she lacks interest in him. So generally men won't be staring at you unless they are attracted to you.
Smiles that reach his eyes
A guy who finds you attractive will smile a lot at you and these smiles will reach his eyes and make them crinkle at little at the sides. Dilated pupils would also give his eyes a kind of sparkle when he flashes his pearlies at you.
Where someone's gaze falls could indicate almost instantly whether attraction is based on feelings of love or of lust. Scientists say if the gaze is focused on a stranger's face, then love is possible, but if the gaze focuses more on the stranger's body, then the attraction is more sexual in nature.
Gaze Is a Potent Social Signal
And, there is ample evidence that gaze is, in fact, arousing. Heart rate and other physiological indicators of heightened arousal levels increase during eye contact in humans as well as in other primates.
If a man is staring at you he is likely sending a message that he is interested in you. This one is a bit tricky. He doesn't have to stare at you the whole time, but if he does it more than once, then you can be sure that he's very interested.
People often stare out of curiosity. We are all curious when we see something new or someone different. Although it can make us feel uncomfortable, people often do this by accident, without meaning to. Not everyone will have met or seen someone who has a visible difference before.
He checks you out when you're not looking.
If you see him staring and he looks away quickly while blushing or smiling, it means he likes you. Only check once or twice each time you're around him. If you glance at him often, he may think you're staring at him.
They are shy
Shy people feel anxious and uncomfortable in social situations, particularly if they are talking to people they don't know very well. A shy person might avoid eye contact because they feel nervous about engaging with others. Shyness is similar to social anxiety, but it's milder.
For those without a diagnosed mental health condition, avoidance of eye contact could be related to shyness or a lack of confidence. Looking someone in the eye while speaking can feel uncomfortable for those without a lot of practice making conversation or who tend to prefer not being in the spotlight.
Generally, a lack of eye contact when someone is speaking communicates submission, while avoiding eye contact when questioned or queried indicates deceit.
If you feel that someone's eyes are frequently on you, that could be a sign of attraction. That doesn't mean that every person who looks at you is interested in you, but if the eye contact is sustained, that might mean something.
