Silence Can Be Intimidating and Revealing Without Being Forceful. Perhaps the anticipation created through silence is so powerful, even our naval forces have tapped into the hidden potential of silence and have developed a weapon to stop people from talking.
Their objectivity and the ability to be less likely to be affected by certain emotional cues make an introvert to appear intimidating to other people and make them likely to be manipulated or swayed.
One reason why introverts make people uncomfortable is because they don't react to anything right away. Instead, they get very quiet and often are completely expressionless. Many people assume it's because introverts aren't interested, don't care, or believe whatever's out there on the table is bad, dumb, or trash.
On the contrary, introverts have attractive qualities because they're active listeners. They speak less and listen more, which gets people interested in them. What makes introverts attractive is their ability to observe beyond the words people speak. They pay close attention to details and are extremely prudent.
Quiet people are more sensitive to the world around them than others. They notice things that other people don't and are more likely to be aware of their surroundings. They also tend to notice small details, which helps them understand other people better and make better decisions in life.
According to research, introverts also have more brain activity than most individuals because of their inward personalities. Their quietness helps them balance out the level of stimulation their brains experience, and is the reason why most introvert traits like keen observation needs silence to function.
The expression “Beware Of The Quiet Ones” is a sign of warning because they can be manipulative, observant, and deceptive. Also, a quiet person is assumed by people as weak, idiotic, naive, pathetic, and afraid.
Quiet people can come off as aloof or cold. They may also give the impression that because they don't talk, they observe and judge you, which can be unpleasant. Quiet people can also be disliked by those who glorify extroversion.
Being an introvert doesn't necessarily mean you're socially awkward, but the two do sometimes overlap. Certainly, as in my case, the fear of feeling anxious and awkward in social settings can cause us to lean into our introversion.
By nature, quiet people have loud minds because they have deep thoughts. While many scratch the surface of a comment or tone, quiet people dig in a little more. They go to the bottom layers to see what more is there. As you can imagine, this takes more time — which is why they're quieter.
And researchers have found 70% of introverts also are highly sensitive people. HSPs for short.
Being silent allows us to channel our energies. It gives us the clarity we need to calmly face challenges and uncertainty. The hour of silence I practice each morning, and encourage you to practice as well, can be a time for collecting our thoughts, training our minds, and deciding how we want to enter into the day.
The silent treatment, or stonewalling, is a passive-aggressive form of manipulation and can be considered emotional abuse. It is a way to control another person by withholding communication, refusing to talk, or ignoring the person.
The image of the strong and silent type is that of somebody who is confident and comfortable in his own skin. This can be very attractive, and project an image of security and assurance. Get to know yourself and the world around you in order to take things in your stride.
Being quiet and gentle doesn't mean you're weak. Such people show deep, inner strength that's under control. It's knowing when to speak and when to listen; when to take action and when to wait. Don't underestimate such people.
More often than not, “Quiet People” are perceived as shy, uninteresting or uninterested, unhappy, introvert and maybe not very bright.
Being quiet doesn't mean that you are shy or insecure. Quiet confident people exude an energy of self-assurance and strength, which is very attractive to other people. It might be quiet, but it's powerful! It also shows that you are comfortable in your own skin.
This isn't necessarily true, and while not all quiet people are necessarily smart, highly intelligent people will often refrain from speaking if they are accessing a situation. They will take some time to think about what was said and prepare an adequate response, and they find silence better than pointless small talk.
People dislike a quiet person because they know how to be discreet, and aren't the LOUD- MOUTH type of people. These people you can tell a secret, and they won't expose it or expose your insecurities or life. These are the type of people you want to confine in.
Relationally intelligent introverts are often highly self-aware, observant, and are excellent listeners. In fact, one study conducted in 2018 by Newport Healthcare found that introverts tend to make more accurate observations about human behavior than extroverts. Introverts tend to “read” people and situations better.
When you hear the word introvert, you might think of someone who's shy or quiet and prefers to be alone. While that may be true for some introverts, there's much more to this personality type. Whether you're an introvert or an extrovert all depends on how you process the world around you.
Essentially, the point of the silent treatment is to make the victim feel confused, stressed, guilty, ashamed, not good enough, or unstable enough so that they would do what the manipulator wants.
Behaviours include people pleasing, unable to say no, rescuing and colluding with others, putting everyone else before the self, lack of empowerment and decision making, and attracting relationships and friendships with people with abuser/abusive tendencies.
