After being released from stasis during the Imperial Era in 9 BBY, Gera bled the kyber crystal and the blade turned red. After Gera's death at the hands of Cal Kestis and Bode Akuna, Akuna secretly retrieved one of the blades and carried it as his own after he betrayed Kestis.
To make matters worse, he calls in the Empire to attack Cere Junda's hidden base on Jedha and Cere sacrifices herself to hold off Darth Vader while everyone else escapes. Cal tries to chase Bode but is defeated when Bode reveals himself to be a Force-user, complete with red lightsaber.
Unlike the Jedi, who wielded various colored lightsabers, the Sith all carried red lightsabers. It was a symbol of their unity and unwavering dedication to the Dark side of the Force. Lightsaber color shares a strong affinity with the identity of the user.
In the construction of a Sith lightsaber, individuals partook in a process known as bleeding. By ways of the Force, they would pour negative emotions, such as rage, hate, fear, and pain into kyber crystals. The process would result in the crystals gaining a distinctive crimson or red hue.
The lightsaber's redesign was a byproduct of the bleeding process that damaged its kyber crystal, rendering it dangerously flawed and unstable, and necessitating the lateral vents were meant to prevent the cracked kyber crystal from overloading.
When Obi-Wan Kenobi's blue saber clashed against Darth Vader's red in the first film, each color was a representation of their innermost selves, a legend which would take further shape and definition as the saga continued. Originally, it was a pretty simple code to crack. Blue was good. Red was evil.
In the earlier part of his life, Anakin wielded the distinctive blue lightsaber of the Jedi. Anakin's blue lightsaber was put to good use in service of the Jedi cause during the Clone Wars. In the latter portion of his life, as the dreaded Darth Vader, he carried the red lightsaber associated with the Sith.
He is known for carrying a blue lightsaber, but there is one canonical instance of Obi-Wan using a red lightsaber. In the season four finale of the 2008 animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” titled “Revenge,” Maul and Savage Opress overpower Kenobi and take his lightsaber.
Th very first Sith used Jedi colored protosabers before being disarmed and exiled. Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma wielded Blue and Green sabers respectively. Darth Vader used his blue lightsaber until after the duel on Mustafar. Darth Caedus used his green lightsaber for quite a while too after turning to the Dark side.
According to Star Wars Legends content, the first Sith was a former Jedi Master, Ajunta Pall, who became a so-called Dark Jedi, or “Fallen” Jedi.
At the end of Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, we see that Rey has finally constructed her own lightsaber, having reached the end of a long journey and completed training with both Lukeand Leia.
Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia says that as "windows to the soul, eyes reflect the emotions harnessed by the Sith. When rage and anger seethe inside a dark side user, their eyes may burn yellow with a fiery-red rim." What that means is a Sith's emotions will be shown through their eyes.
Technically a Dark Jedi and not a Sith (which could be argued on behalf of Dagan Gera too), Bode Akuna would serve as the final boss of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. In getting there, players learn that he was a Jedi in the Clone Wars who managed to survive the Purge.
Bode was also proficient in using the Force to enhance his physical abilities, using dashes of Force enhanced speed to surprise Cal in their fights and amplifying his strength to perform various unblockable attacks that caused shockwaves upon hitting the ground on several occasions.
Silver Lightsabers
In Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi uses a silver lightsaber when he faces off against his former apprentice, Darth Vader. This represents the end of Kenobi's time as a Jedi and the beginning of his new role as a protector of peace.
Leia Organa's lightsaber was a blue-bladed lightsaber powered by a kyber crystal in the core of the hilt. It was silver and copper in color and featured mother-of-pearl inlays.
The simple answer is that Anakins lightsaber is blue because that's the color it was in the original films and they had to keep continuity.
Without a doubt, the most notable Jedi with a purple saber is Mace Windu, portrayed in the prequel trilogy by Samuel L. Jackson. Audiences first got a glimpse of the unusual blade in Episode II: Attack of the Clones, making Windu the coolest Jedi in one cinematic moment.
Lightsaber Colors Used to Matter
A brief who's who of users with blue lightsabers includes Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen, pre-youngling slayer), Shaak Ti, and Count Dooku (Christopher Lee, pre-dark side/ass handed to him by Yoda).
The lightsaber then became part of Maz Kanata's collection of Jedi curios, where it called to the scavenger Rey. She wielded it in defeating Kylo Ren, then brought it to Ahch-To and offered it back to Luke. When he refused it, Rey carried the ancient weapon herself.
Somehow, it came into the possession of Maz Kanata in the intervening decades, who kept it in safely hidden away in her castle. When young Rey visited Maz with the Resistance, the lightsaber called to her, but she refuses to use it, opting to rely on her blaster and staff instead.
Black is the rarest lightsaber color in the world of Star Wars. For a while, the only known black lightsaber was the Darksaber, forged a thousand years ago and owned by a Mandalorian Jedi. However, the High Republic era revealed that at least one more Jedi had a black lightsaber.
The weakest and most harmless type of lightsaber is the one that has been “baby-proofed”: the training lightsabers. As the name implies, this type of lightsaber is only utilized in the context of training very young Jedi to one day become Jedi Masters.
Master Yoda has risen above all others to claim the top spot as the most powerful Jedi of all time and the true chosen one according to IGN's audience. He won pretty handily as well, as he was victorious in 89,756 of his 95,243 battles and had a win percentage of 94.2%.
