The shows portal of drugs and violence doesn't necessarily hold back. The violence can be strong at times, but isn't on the level of brutality such as other shows like Game of Thrones and The Wire. The drug content is pervasive, though the use of drugs isn't as frequent as you'd think.
Depends how matured your child is
If your kid knows that doing drugs is not the way to go and to never ever do them then this show is fine for people 12+. There are some gory parts but you legit can close your eyes if you can't watch.
What Parents Need to Know. Parents need to know that Breaking Bad isn't intended for kids. Its intense, morally ambiguous characters and storylines are meant for mature audiences.
It has intense violence at certain parts, there is clearly a lot of illegal drug use, there is a moderate amount of sexual content with some nudity in the pilot episode, and there is a good amount of swearing throughout the show.
But it's not just the drugs, homicide, strong language, and adult-oriented scenes parents need to be aware of. "Breaking Bad" is a searing, intense TV drama of the highest order, and its aesthetic and storytelling may also disturb children.
Profanity (11)
Middle fingers are seen for a few times throughout. "Jesus", "Christ" and "Jesus Christ" are said multiple times throughout the show. 28 uses of "fuck" overall. "Fuck" is said 15 times in Season 1 (there is at least one or two F-bombs per episode), but is seldom used in the rest of the series.
Not only are those present throughout the series but there are also references to drugs as well. Some characters are even seen doing cocaine in Season 5 episode 2 and 3 and there are references to methamphetamine as well. So, Better Call Saul I'd say is best for ages 13 and up.
One of the main reasons for the proven timeless quality of Breaking Bad is simply how well-written the show is. From its wider themes, characters, and the stories intertwining the two, Breaking Bad remains the gold standard on how to write TV.
The R rating means that children under 17 years are not admitted to the theater without a parent. Movies may get an R rating for different reasons. This rating is given for nudity, profanity, or violence. Nudity, depending on the context, may be harmless.
Beware lots of alcohol and violence (duh). 16+ should watch with parental guidance. Season 1: sex that doesn't show parts and besides one scene towards the end, it is fine for mature teens.
A 15 rating means nobody under 15 is allowed full stop. 12A films are the ones where younger kids can go with a parent/ adult. Can a 12 year old watch a movie? Unaccompanied children of any age may watch, but parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.
Parents need to know that South Park is a satirical animated series created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone that isn't meant for young kids. It's jam packed with mature themes, swearing (including "f--k," "s--t," and more), over-the-top cartoon violence, potty humor, and innuendo.
A Marine war veteran faces mental and emotional challenges when he tries to reintegrate into civilian life. Rated PG-13 for some violent content, and strong language.
Parents need to know that the level of violence is very intense in Squid Game. Characters are systematically tortured and killed for the sadistic pleasure of a game master. Adults have sex, and there are threats of sexual violence: Women are grabbed by the hair and beaten.
The show is rated TV-14, but it really gets that by way of technicality. Some bad language (f-words and s-words, mostly) is bleeped on Cartoon Network's late-night Adult Swim block of programming, but it's pretty obvious from the context what those words are.
Skyler is 12 years younger than Walt, whom she met when she was a hostess at a diner near Walt's former place of work, near the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
There are exceptions, usually when the word is just repeated in a short time or used as part of an emotional scene, McMahon said. But any movie with more than three F-bombs likely couldn't remain PG-13, she said. And if the word is used to signify sex, the film automatically gets an R rating.
There are several companies or TV stations not subject to the FCC's rules that have broken the general implied rule that "crude indecent" language (ex. multiple F-bombs) is not allowed at the TV-14 rating.
Mature (M)
Films and computer games classified M (Mature) contain content of a moderate impact. M-rated films and computer games are not recommended for children under the age of 15.
The animated series Bluey is at No. 2 while Breaking Bad is back at the top of the list. An incredibly popular show, Breaking Bad has also garnered high scores at Rotten Tomatoes. The show has a near-perfect approval rating of 96% on the Tomatometer, and the audience score is even higher at 97%.
After a five season run, tonight marks the conclusion of the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad -- one of the most tragic, stressful, gut-wrenching television experiences I have ever endured. Each excruciating, emotionally taxing episode made me feel like I was walking on shards of glass.
Netflix recommends it for ages 16+. Of course, that's just a general guideline - and certainly not a prohibition. Netflix also says (on the series overview) that the series is “violent, gritty, dark”. So, I guess the “16+” recommendation is due to this violence.
At Children's Hospital Colorado, our mental health experts strongly recommend that children and youth not watch 13 Reasons Why, and certainly not alone. Profanity (5)
