Seasons 1-3 of Stranger Things are pretty evenly violent and scary and are rated TV-14. However, Stranger Things 4 is a whole different level and has a TV-MA rating. Well it was rated TV-MA and then recently changed to TV-14, however, it deserves that TV-MA rating. Stranger Things 4 is not for kids.

Not surprisingly, Squid Game is rated TV-MA, meaning for mature audiences only. Yet, kids all over the world have caught on, and they're now playing Squid Game versions of their one-time harmless childhood games on the playground.
Parents need to know that the level of violence is very intense in Squid Game. Characters are systematically tortured and killed for the sadistic pleasure of a game master. Adults have sex, and there are threats of sexual violence: Women are grabbed by the hair and beaten.

Wednesday is rated TV-14 for violence, fear, and profanity, which means it may not be suitable for children under 14 years old.
Lots of characters are killed throughout the series, occasionally quite brutally but most of it is moderate. In a hospital, there is a chase scene which is somewhat gory. A man is stabbed with scissors - blood spurts out.
We'd say no when it comes to kids under 10 watching Stranger Things 4. It's scary and not kid-friendly in the least! And we'd highly suggest waiting for your children to be 12 and older before letting them watch this season.

Christian references are minimal: one family are churchgoers. There are references to the game Dungeons and Dragons being demonic, but this is minor. For those sensitive to such issues there are a few gay characters within the team, but this is incidental and not a key plot point.
The show does have jump scares, but it's not the same as like watching a movie about a serial killer or something. In fact, the show's jump scares are few and far between. Plus, in most scenes you get a warning that it's about to come.

Outer Banks probably isn't the best show for children to watch. Specifically, this show is rated for mature adults due to potentially “crude indecent language, explicit sexual activity, or graphic violence.”
Stranger Things' enormous success can be attributed to many factors, as it is a production that has been critically acclaimed, among many things, for its plot, direction, performances, and outstanding atmosphere, set in the 80s, right down to the smallest detail.
