Positioning your bed in line with the door is the worst possible position, according to the principles of Feng shui. People who practice Feng shui call it the 'dead man's position' or the 'coffin position' because the feet or head face the door and resemble how we carry the dead through open doors from the house.
The first and best choice is to move the bed. Again, if at all possible, the most ideal way to correct a bed that is aligned with the door is to move the bed. A lot of people are resistant to this: They just jump to the second (crystal ball) option.
Feng Shui expert Melissa Waite Stamps explains that 'a bed should never directly face and point toward the door with the feet pointing at the door. This is the position many Asian countries use to carry out their dead.
Facing a bed towards a window is a better option than placing your bed underneath it, however, it is still not recommended. In Feng Shui, it is generally believed that, where possible, beds should not be placed directly in line with either a door or windows.
The bed should always be on the southwest wall of the room. It should not face the door. The best sleeping position for couples as per Vastu is to keep the head towards the south, southeast, or southwest. It is strongly advised not to keep the head towards the north while sleeping.
Commanding Position
You want your bed located so that when you're lying in bed, you can see the door to the bedroom. However, you don't want to be directly in line with the door either. A good rule of thumb for bedroom feng shui, is to place the bed diagonal from the door.
Which direction should you sleep in Australia? According to vastu shastra and feng shui, you should avoid sleeping with your head pointed south in the southern hemisphere, so get that head pointing north, east or west.
Sleeping with your head pointing North can also disrupt your blood circulation and lead to disturbed sleep. In order to prevent such a scenario, it is better to avoid sleeping with your head facing North.

Sleeping with the window open could inadvertently trigger allergies, asthma or potentially cause illness in someone with an already-weakened immune system. But for most people, it's relatively risk free. Aim to keep your bedroom around 65 degrees with 65 percent humidity.

It Can Disturb Sleep
Having a mirror facing the bed can disturb your sleep, especially if you're sensitive to light. Even if the room is dark, any light reflected off the mirror can cause discomfort and prevent you from falling asleep or staying asleep. It could also give you the impression that you are being watched.
A long narrow hallway is considered bad feng shui if not taken care of properly. The reason the feng shui of a long narrow hallway is bad is because the energy of a long hallway has a combination of rushing Sha Chi and, in most cases, stagnant energy (Si Chi).

Worst direction to sleep
Just like the south is considered to be the best direction to sleep in, Ayurvedic experts suggested avoiding facing north while sleeping. This is because “sleeping towards the north makes the positive pole of earth coincide with the positive pole of our body, which repels each other.
As in many cultures, it's vital that your feet do not face the bedroom door as you sleep. It's considered bad for your health because dead bodies traditionally are removed from a bedroom feet first.
Sleeping direction science indicates a head pointed east will allow blood circulation to flow freely. When the magnetic fields of the north pole and your head are neutralized, it creates more restful sleep, filling you with energy and happiness.
According to Vastu Shastra, sleeping in the east direction is good, while sleeping in the west direction can be harmful which includes sleeping with your feet on the east side. Moreover, your head should be placed in the east direction as it increases memory, concentration, good health and spirituality in a person.
But here's the good news: There's a simple step you can add to your nighttime routine to keep you safe. Research from UL's Firefighter Safety Research Institute (FRSI) shows that closing your bedroom door helps prevent a fire from spreading, lessens smoke damage and could even save lives.
