The way that I interpret Yoda's strange behaviours on Dagobah is not that he had lost his sanity, but was bored. Really, really bored. As Grand Master of the Jedi Order, Yoda had spent centuries right in the thick of things. Many of the wisest and most powerful beings in the galaxy came to him for advice.
Yoda wanted to know just who he might be dealing with, so he acted as a eccentric old fool to test Luke's patience. And while Luke kinda showed he was giving him a chance, he already impulsively was getting annoyed and demanded to see Yoda now… Without ever stopping and considering he was talking to the man himself.
Why did Yoda look so bad in Episode VIII? He was meant to look like his original appearance in Empire Strikes Back, not the CGI Yoda from the prequels. You see, what made the original Starwars great wasn't insane special effects but the unique and original ideas and characters it had.
Yoda's exile
Yoda lived the planet Dagobah for the rest of his life. After his failure to defeat the Sith Lord Darth Sidious following the formation of the Galactic Empire, Yoda exiled himself to Dagobah. Using an E3-standard starship lifeboat, began his exile where he continued his studies of the Force.
At the end of the Clone Wars, Jedi Master Yoda went into self-imposed exile on Dagobah after he failed to defeat the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious, who was directly responsible for the near extinction of the Jedi Order.
Such cycles of fate no longer surprised the nine-hundred-year-old Jedi. So there you have it. Yoda and R2D2 knew each other and the galaxy is even a smaller world than we think.
An in-universe reason for choosing Dagobah is the planet's connection to the dark side. Force-sensitive beings can feel each other's presence through the Force. Since Yoda's is such a light in the darkness, he neesd to hide in the darkest of places. Dagobah contains a dark side nexus.
To teach Anakin responsibility, Yoda assigned Skywalker a Padawan learner: Ahsoka Tano. Yoda knew there would come a time when Anakin had to let go of Ahsoka.
Master Yoda failed Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones, and it resulted in the destruction of the Jedi Order. Master Yoda is one of the most revered characters in the Star Wars universe, and for good reason, but he ultimately failed in stopping the rise of the Sith.
Home to Yoda during his final years, Dagobah was a swamp-covered planet strong with the Force -- a forgotten world where the wizened Jedi Master could escape the notice of Imperial forces.
As powerful as Darth Sidious may have been, it's easy to forget he actually seemed afraid of Master Yoda. As seen in Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine initially thought he could deal with the aged Jedi Master - and then, when Yoda proved able to counter the Sith Lord's Force lightning, he fled.
And even when Yoda discovered Palpatine's true nature, Yoda underestimated his power.
1 Yoda Failed To Realize Palpatine Was A Sith Lord
Yoda's biggest mistake in the Star Wars saga was, of course, the fact he completely missed the signs of Palpatine's treachery.
Grogu isn't mentioned to Rey by Luke, but that's purely because The Mandalorian, Grogu, and Disney+ didn't exist when The Force Awakens script was written. There's no on-screen evidence to confirm Luke and Grogu cross paths once more after The Book of Boba Fett, but that doesn't mean the pair can't reunite again.
Yoda. Yoda's knowledge of Luke Skywalker's true parentage was also confirmed in Return of the Jedi. As with Obi-Wan, Yoda believed that Anakin's fall to the dark side made him unsalvageable, with the Darth Vader persona being his only identity following his ascension to Sith Lordship.
Luke Skywalker eventually had the lightsaber in his possession after Yoda's death in 4 ABY. Five years later, he offered the weapon to Grogu in a choice against obtaining beskar armor. However, Grogu chose the beskar armor over the lightsaber and went back to Din Djarin.
Jedi were forbidden from taking a political appointment. They were taught that their loyalty was to be to the Force, the Jedi Order, the Republic and to themselves, in that order.
According to TCW Season 6, he did, to some capacity, he didin't know exactly when, why, or who was Sidious, but he did know all the Jedi were going to die, and he also knew the Clones were set up by the Sith.
While it's not to say Skywalker wouldn't stand a chance, the duel between Yoda and Anakin would be close. In the end, though, Yoda would be the ultimate victor if he fought Anakin in Star Wars' Revenge of the Sith.
She eventually became the Padawan of a human male Jedi Master, Stellan Gios. Vernestra was enough of a prodigy that she eventually attained the rank of Jedi Knight at the age of only fifteen, making her the youngest Knight in a generation.
The second time Yoda mentions his long life is in Return of the Jedi, when he tells Luke, “When you reach 900 years old, you will not look as good as you will.” If we take Yoda at his word, that means the Jedi Master died at the ripe old age of 900.
Mission to Mathas. Padawan Windu was trained in the ways of the Force by Jedi Master Cyslin Myr. Following his early trials as a youngling, Windu attained the status of Padawan by becoming Jedi Master Cyslin Myr's apprentice.
So Yoda, Anakin, Padme, and the twins escape to Dagobah. Knowing Anakin and his reckless ways, he wouldn't last too long there. Vengeance would be in his eyes. Yoda would try to stop him, but not by force (or THE Force).
Though there was some debate among the fans that Anakin Skywalker's son, Luke Skywalker, was actually the Chosen One since he caused his father to destroy Darth Sidious, the debate was settled when George Lucas himself confirmed in an interview that Anakin, even after becoming Darth Vader, was still officially the ...
Following the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back, Jedi Master Yoda spent 20 years alone in self isolation/ exile on the Dagobah System following the Emperor's execution of Order 66, leading to the Great Jedi Purge.
