Whole grains — High fiber, whole-grains like brown rice, oatmeal, and whole grain breads help stop symptoms of acid reflux. They are a good source of fiber and may help absorb stomach acid. Lean protein — Low-fat, lean sources of protein also reduce symptoms. Good choices are chicken, seafood, tofu, and egg whites.
Cold milk. Cold milk is one of the most simple home remedies to combat acidity. If you're not lactose-intolerant, the richness of calcium in milk controls excess secretion of hydrochloric acids, thereby absorbing the acids in the stomach.
Bread can cause heartburn because it is highly processed refined carbohydrate and loaded with sodium. Both of which are responsible for increasing acidity in the stomach.

Hypergastrinemia involves increased levels of gastrin, a hormone that aids digestion. This affects acid levels in your stomach. Hypergastrinemia may be caused by long-term use of antacids or proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), H. pylori infection, certain surgeries and other conditions.
Saturated fats such as butter, cream and cheese, can be especially bad for acid reflux, so try to ensure that the fats you eat are healthier unsaturated ones, such as avocado or walnuts.

In some people the burning sensation calms down after just a few minutes, but that is not a rule, and it can last up to a few days in some other cases. However, if heartburn lasts even longer and if it occurs even more frequently, we recommend that you see your doctor as soon as possible.
H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) lower the amount of acid your stomach makes. They don't work on the acid that's already there. Antacids work by making stomach juices less acidic. But your heartburn may come back as your stomach makes more acid.
