Earwax blockage that has no symptoms can sometimes clear on its own. However, if you have signs and symptoms of earwax blockage, talk to your health care provider. Signs and symptoms may signal another condition.
They can give advice and suggest treatments. They might recommend medicines to dissolve the earwax. The earwax should fall out on its own or dissolve after about a week.
It can strip your ear of important earwax that is serving its normal beneficial function, and it can also irritate the sensitive skin of your ear canal. Accordingly, we only recommend using an at-home earwax removal regimen with peroxide as needed, but no more than once every month or so.

To do this, just gently massage the outside of the ear using circular movements. That way, the impaction will soften, which can help the earwax drain more easily. Once you've finished making these circular movements, pull your ear slightly backwards, from the lobe to the top of the auricle.
Clogged ears can also result from swollen or blocked eustachian tubes, which connect the middle ear to the back of the throat. This can happen for brief periods during air travel, but also due to allergies, sinus or ear infections, or other respiratory viruses (including COVID-19).

What are the causes of clogged ears? Eustachian tube blockage. The eustachian tube, which connects the middle ear to the throat, can become blocked when fluid or mucus is trapped. Oftentimes, this occurs when experiencing seasonal allergies, a cold or sinus or ear infection.

Try Droplets of Hydrogen Peroxide Into Your Ear
After you tilt your ear upward and put the drops in, a few seconds should be enough to break up the wax blockage. You might need to repeat this several times a day for a couple of days, but ultimately, the clog should clear.
Using a dropper, place a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water (equal parts) into your ear as you lay on one side. After one to two minutes, sit up and let the solution drain into a paper towel or washcloth held near your ear.
Hydrogen peroxide ear drops may not remove enough earwax if used alone. In this case, a person may want to consider rinsing the ear with an ear syringe.
If you have earwax buildup, certain ear drops can soften and loosen your earwax for easier removal. There are three types of softening drops for earwax: water-based, non-water-based and oil-based. If you have impacted earwax, a healthcare provider may recommend ear drops containing: Carbamide peroxide.
If your ears are full of wax, they can often feel clogged.

How do you get rid of a muffled ear? Muffled hearing may resolve on its own in cases like altitude or air pressure changes. However, when caused by congestion, sinus infection, an ear infection or other medical issues, treatment from a health care provider is advisable.
Allow it to bubble and fizz. Once you are used to the feeling the solution should be left to bubble and fizz in the ear for up to one minute at a time, although when you first use it you may only tolerate the feeling for a few seconds. Tip solution out onto a tissue.
