Answer: Fixing a Dent in the Nose
Either cartilage grafting through a closed rhinoplasty or a filler to the indented area would be appropriate.
Dents on the outside of your nose are secondary to irregular cartilage. The cartilage may be irregular secondary to trauma (accident or injury) or because you were born with asymmetric nasal cartilage. This problem is corrected with a rhinoplasty either of the tip alone or the entire nose.
If the bone was adequately reduced, that bump should disappear as the swelling subsides over the first 3-4 months. If the hump persists beyond then, it may indicate that the hump was not entirely reduced during the surgery.
Why is my nose crooked after my rhinoplasty? Crookedness or asymmetry to the nose after primary rhinoplasty can be evidence of asymmetrical healing. Postoperative scarring is unpredictable, and scar tissue may form unevenly and cause your nose to appear crooked.
No matter what you do to the cartilage, the tip will be bigger after surgery, not smaller!
Profile improvements can be seen prior to other changes, but there may still be an appearance of a small hump until all of the nasal swelling goes away, which could take several months.
Six weeks after your procedure, the cartilage and bones in your nose will be fully settled. At this time, there will be no restrictions on the exercise you can perform.
At three months, almost all swelling has gone down permanently, and the nose looks basically like the final result. It will take a year or two for the nose to totally settle into its new structure, but at three months, the vast majority of rhinoplasty recovery is complete.
Aloe Vera Gel is the natural remedy to make the marks disappear. It is easy for us to get the aloe vera as we can see the shrub in most of our homes. Take the fresh aloe vera gel and apply it to the marks. Once it is applied to the black marks, it should be undisturbed for at least 10 hours.
Sometimes relatively minor "dents" in the nose can be fixed with a simple office treatment using one of the wrinkle fillers. Short-term fillers should be tried first - to make sure it is 100% satisfying to you - and long-term (essentially permanent fillers) could be used thereafter.
For humans and most primates, the philtrum survives only as a vestigial medial depression between the nose and upper lip. The human philtrum, bordered by ridges, is also known as the infranasal depression, but has no apparent function.
Taping can be effective to subside the swelling and shrink the skin down. It doesn't, however, affect the shape and form of the nose.
While initial swelling subsides within a few weeks, it may take up to a year for your new nasal contour to fully refine. During this time you may notice gradual changes in the appearance of your nose as it refines to a more permanent outcome.
After about 6 weeks your nose will be roughly as strong as it was before the operation. The strength of the nose returns faster than the sensitivity subsides. So, even though the nose may be quite strong, it will still feel quite delicate and sensitive to the touch.
While by 3-6 months the rhinoplasty “healing” is considered complete, there is even further maturation and improvement up to the one-year mark. Typically the tip of the nose becomes even more refined until 12 months after surgery.
Swelling After Surgery
Generally, swelling is the most common reason why your nose looks bigger after rhinoplasty, which is completely normal. As a general rule, half of the swelling in the nasal tip will be gone after a month, but it will take at least a year for the tip to reach its final shape.
For the first few weeks after surgery your nose may appear larger than it was before surgery because of the swelling, which will gradually subside. This process is typically complete 6-12 months after surgery though some patients have reported swelling continuing to go down up to 18 months after.
2 - 3 Months Post-Rhinoplasty
By this point, any swelling around the bridge of the nose should have subsided completely. You may still experience some numbness at the tip of the nose. This is normal and the feeling should gradually return. The scar from an open procedure will begin to fade.
The result of rhinoplasty is usually satisfactory at the end of the operation, but four to six weeks later we unfortunately observe that the tip occasionally droops.
Select a surgeon you have a good relationship with AND is also experienced and well-trained in rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty – they should be able to give you an honest, realistic, and achievable opinion regarding the result that can be obtained using revision rhinoplasty.
If you're considering a rhinoplasty (or nose job), you've probably heard a lot of horror stories about botched procedures. In fact, around 10 percent of first-time rhinoplasty procedures result in a second rhinoplasty down the road.
Cartilage, which covers and cushions the surface of joints, generally does not regenerate once damaged, but "cartilage cells from the nasal septum (the part of the nose that separates the nostrils) are known to have a great capacity to grow and form new cartilage."
