Despite his death, Cedric and Harry are crowned co-Triwizard Champions. Considering that the Triwizard Tournament was quite literally rigged to guarantee Harry's win, the fact that Cedric still managed to come out on top attests to how strong of a wizard he was.

Cedric, like Lily and James, comes out of Voldemort's wand as a result of Priori Incantatem. He urges Harry to take his body back to his father and the Boy Who Lived is a man of his word, taking his friend's corpse back to Hogwarts when he gets back to the Portkey.
He had a big heart and worked hard his entire life. He never expected things to just be handed to him freely without putting in any effort. Plus, everyone loved him -- he was popular for all the right reasons. At the end of the day, Cedric was a serious catch and a really good person.

Cedric and Harry were in Hufflepuff and Gryffindor respectively and were two years apart at school. They didn't share dorms, common rooms, meals, practices, or classes.

More importantly, Cedric was a kind and loyal person. After catching the Snitch in a match against Gryffindor in Harry's third year, he offered to replay the game since Harry was unwell. He never got angry at Harry for becoming the second Hogwarts champion and remained friendly even when most of the school didn't.
To recap the key event in question, in an effort to save Cedric's life, Scorpius and Albus go back in time and try to change the Triwizard tournament. Part of this involves humiliating him at the second task, using an engorgement charm on him so he blows up like a balloon in front of the whole school.
Harry may feel guilt over Cedric's death, but he feels guilt over everything he have no control over, and in all honesty, Harry do not know him well enough, other than the fair few interactions, to give any of his kids his name.
Harry meets Cedric and his loving father Amos at the outset of the book. He's jealous of Diggory's relationship with his parents. He was bullied by Cedric's friends throughout fourth year, who wore "Potter Stinks!" badges and tormented him. He was humiliated.
He used a Transfiguration spell to change a rock into a dog to distract the dragon. He was partially successful; the dragon took the bait, and Cedric went for the Golden egg. Halfway through, the dragon turned its attention back to Cedric, and burned his face. Cedric retrieved the egg, however, and passed the task.
In the Chamber itself, we see a large statue of a wizard, which Harry presumes is Salazar Slytherin. We also meet Tom Riddle, who is, as it turns out, the heir of Slytherin. Present only in spirit, he has all the same been controlling Ginny, and having her act as Slytherin's heir.
