Synthetic wigs are GREAT for rainy days and humid climates. Synthetic wigs perform great in adverse weather conditions. Want perfectly beachy waves that can hold up to high humidity or rain showers? No problem.
Can Wigs Get Wet? YES, cool water will not hurt your wig. Now, with synthetic hair the style is “baked in” and once it dries will the hair will go right back to its original shape. With human hair wigs, you will need to reset the style after the hair gets wet.
A silk scarf is a perfect way to protect your hair from the rain. A silk scarf will keep the rain away from your hair and is gentle enough not to damage your hair either. If your hair does get wet, allow it to air dry. It takes a few hours for a wig to air dry, but air drying helps protect the fibers in your wig.
Ideally, water would not damage your wig, whether synthetic or human hair; except when it contains chlorine or sea salt, or other elements that could make the hair fibers frizzy and damage the wig cap. It would make it look crusty and unappealing when it dries eventually.
Your life doesn't need to change after you start wearing wigs, you can do everything you did before you began wearing wigs. Yes, even swimming. You can wear your wig at the pool, in the lake, and on the beach.
What we recommend though. You should avoid getting the hair wet for 24 hours after attachment. Once that 24 hour period is over, you can shower as normal. It is also important to keep in mind that the hair colour can fade and the adhesion can loosen if you shower and wash the hair too often or too vigorously.
Always use cool or cold water to rinse your wigs, not hot water. Hot water can damage the fibers of your wig – not a good idea!
1. Minimise exposure to direct sunlight. We wait for it all year, but vast amounts of direct sunlight can cause damage to a synthetic or human hair wig. This isn't just a wig thing, though, as sunlight can also damage and change the colour of natural hair.
For peace of mind, wear a swimming cap
If you still want to wear your wig when you swim, but you don't want to expose it fully to the water or the elements if you're outdoors, you can wear a swimming cap for that extra bit of security.
Drying your wig: Wrap in a towel and very gently squeeze. Then place wig on a wig stand with a towel underneath and do not brush until completely dry. The wig should be dry within 12 hours.
Never brush a wig when it is wet
This is important, particularly if it is a human hair wig. Your wig is at its weakest and most susceptible to damage when it is wet, and so brushing it can permanently stretch and damage your wig. To avoid this, make sure your wig is properly dried before brushing.
Always brush your wig when it's dry—never wet. You can detangle and remove spray buildup from synthetic hair with a wig brush. Be sure never to use a regular human hairbrush, which can stretch, break, or pull the fibers from the cap. The styles of wig brushes vary.
Synthetic wigs are definitely the best option for wigs for the beach. Whilst humidity and water still affect a wig in general; synthetic wigs are much more tolerant of beachy weather.
Depending on the fiber, your wig can take from 12-24 hours to dry completely. Synthetic and HD fibers do not absorb water and will dry much faster than human hair, yet the cap materials will hold water and take longer to dry.
Yes, you can wash synthetic wigs but we recommend only using wig shampoo and conditioner specially formulated to clean fibers gently and thoroughly. Regular hair care products may contain chemicals that can damage synthetic wigs so we do not recommend using regular shampoo or conditioner to wash your wigs.
Synthetic wigs and toppers are great options for swimming. Synthetic hairpieces are more affordable than human ones and, as a bonus, synthetic hair retains its style, so you won't have to worry about how your hair will look when its air-dried!

Overall, synthetic wigs are better to wear during the summer months. Synthetic hair is lighter than human hair, so it should keep you cooler. In comparison, human hair wigs will react to the hot weather in the same way natural hair would. It could lose shape and style or go frizzy with the humidity.
Place the wig on the Fresh Wigs head, securing the wig clips into the holes on the “fringe” area. Note: For extra security, you can use the chin strap to help hold the wig in place. Turn on the hair dryer to a medium heat and speed. After a few minutes, the wig's net is dry and ready to style!
Pool chemicals and saltwater can damage wig fibers and cause them to break down quickly, lessening the lifespan of your wig.
As a general rule, you should wash wigs made with human hair once every two weeks. However, if you frequently apply hair-styling products to your wig, you should up your wash routine to once a week to control product buildup.
