Most of the time, complete blockages require a stay in the hospital and possibly surgery. But if your bowel is only partly blocked, your doctor may tell you to wait until it clears on its own and you are able to pass gas and stool.
Most patients stay in the hospital for between five and seven days following bowel obstruction surgery. It can take several weeks or months to fully return to normal activities.

If you are already fit, you might choose aerobic exercise: running, jogging, swimming, or swing dancing, for example. All of these exercises can help keep the digestive tract healthy. Stretching may also help ease constipation, and yoga may, too.
Bowel obstructions usually cause cramping, abdominal pain, vomiting and inability to pass bowel motions (faeces or poo) or gas. A bowel obstruction is an emergency and needs treatment in hospital to prevent serious complications.

Using plain old water is probably the best and safest way to cleanse your colon of waste, harmful substances, and relieve constipation. Drinking water every single day, and often, is the healthiest natural way to keep your system functioning as it should.
