Yes! Of course, Luffy's Gear 5 is the peak of his colossal powers. He can literally do ANYTHING with his devil fruit powers right now, as he transforms into the Sun God Nika when using Gear 5, making his devil fruit the strongest in existence so far.
He can use it anytime.
The most shocking moment of the “Wano Country Saga” in One Piece was Luffy's devil fruit awakening and his Gear 5 form. However, he only uses that form once in the “Egghead Arc. “
Gear 5 permits Luffy to instantly switch between the limb and muscle inflation techniques of Gear 3 and 4, with the speed of Gear 2. He can even expand his entire body to gargantuan proportions and take on the form of a giant, as he did against Kaido.
1) Kaido. Kaido did in fact lose to Luffy's Gear 5 at the end of the Wano Country arc. However, keep in mind that he withstood multiple waves of strong enemies before this final encounter. Luffy was also completely worn out after the fight and fell into a coma for about a week.
5 Shortened Life
While this could likely be a result of the long and hard-fought battle with Kaido on Onigashima and his way up to it beforehand, it could also imply that Gear Five has the biggest strain on Luffy's body out of all.
However, physical blows without Haki don't work on him due to his rubber body, and the only slashing-style ninjutsu Sakura is shown to know is a scalpel-like blade. With that being her only weapon to hurt Luffy with, it's likely she will lose this fight in embarrassing fashion.
With this gear unlocked, Luffy is said to resemble the “Warrior of Liberation” — Sun God Nika, who is said to bring smiles, joy, and freedom to the people. Gear 5 gave Luffy the complete freedom he ever wanted, and as a result, enabled him to bend reality and break the laws of physics.
So, for you manga-readers: yes, Gear Five is in Red. But it's the coyest feature of a major attack I have ever seen in anything shounen.
Fan theory suggests that Luffy will awaken Gear 6 in One Piece. The concept of Gears was introduced in the Enies Lobby arc of One Piece when Luffy brought out Gear 2 against the CP9 agent Blueno. His skin turned pinkish and heated up, allowing our main character to move faster.
Even though he entered his Gear 5th state, Luffy is much stronger than Lucci, even in his awakened form. This was evident from the fact that Luffy was able to dodge every single one of his attacks effortlessly and hit him with a powerful strike right into his gut, sending him out of commission for a while.
Gear 5 is only powerful because Luffy has great haki. If Luffy didn't have any haki, his Gear 5 attacks would literally do nothing to Kaido. All Gear 5 does is let Luffy more easily punch and tank attacks.
Since Luffy's Devil Fruit is actually a Mythical Zoan instead of a Paramecia, it granted him a completely new transformation instead and typical of Luffy, he ended up naming it Gear 5. In this form, Luffy gains a completely white transformation and takes on an appearance similar to that of the "Sun God" Nika.
The first official look at Gear Fifth's colors came from an unlikely source, a leaked action figure made by Bandai, an official Shonen Jump merchandise that showed Luffy's hair and clothes as completely white, while his eyes take on a peculiar red color.
Due to the number of drawbacks the Baryon Mode brings, Luffy will probably clinch victory in Naruto vs. Luffy if they break those modes out. Naruto vs. Luffy, in Baryon Mode and Gear 5 mode, would probably end in Luffy's victory since he's too unpredictable for the more grounded Naruto to handle.
More Freedom. Luffy is the embodiment of freedom in One Piece and Gear 5th takes this quality of his to the absolute fullest. Gear 5th Luffy has been described as "the warrior of Liberation." According to the Gorosei, he spreads laughter wherever he goes and fights with incredible freedom.
Luffy's heartbit is so strong that it makes his whole body tickle. He can't control his heartbit, so he can't stop laughing. That's it.
Could Luffy beat Goku in Gear Five? No, he can't. The power scaling in both verses is vastly different: one verse has gone from building to moon to planetary to solar system to low multiversal.
Luffy has not surpassed Shanks just yet, otherwise, their future fight would hold no significant value. Luffy is close to Shanks in terms of power and it is only after their fight that he will officially be able to call himself stronger than Shanks. For now, Red Hair reigns supreme.
Mihawk is said to be close to the same level as Shanks and is even dubbed as the greatest swordsman, so to say Luffy would defeat Mihawk is still debatable in the eyes of many fans.
Even without Gear Fifth, Luffy is still a master of various Haki techniques. Sabo is yet to display the same level of skill as Luffy did. This could potentially change in the future, but even then Sabo isn't nearly as durable as Luffy.
Luffy Took 10 Years Off His Life by Altering His Own Hormones.
Kureha, for example, is 141 years old, so, may Luffy will live until he's 60. He's a pirate, which means he wasn't planning on living that long.
In order to save the Straw Hat Pirate from the warden Magellan's venom, Emporio Ivankov used their Devil Fruit powers to alter the hormones in the boy's body to strengthen his immune system. The process was excruciating, lasted for hours, and ultimately took approximately 10 years off of Luffy's life expectancy.
Luffy's Gear 5 was originally seen to make its debut in Chapter 1044 of the manga, means that Episode 1,071 will be the first to show him with it. It has since been confirmed that Luffy's Gear 5 is set to be shown onscreen on 6th August 2023.
