If you decline a delivery request, that request will be re-assigned to another nearby delivery person. We recommend that you only go online when you're ready to accept delivery requests.
Decline low-paying deliveries when it's busy
You can say no to some deliveries that aren't worth your time, especially if you have other higher-paying deliveries available. Plus, you won't be punished for saying no. The delivery request will simply go to another nearby available driver.
Favorite Driver allows riders to select specific drivers whom they'd like to be matched with when requesting Scheduled Rides. You can add drivers to your Favorite Driver list during the rating process on Scheduled Rides by tapping the Favorite button.
They looked at your rating and decided that they didn't want to risk accepting you as a passenger. This one is related to the first. They have driven you before and don't want to repeat the experience. Any uber driver who sticks with it for a while has faced this situation.
There is a rider block list. Rate a rider a 3 or below on either Uber or Lyft and (they say) you won't see them again. That's only on Lyft, but Uber drivers do have an invisible block list that they don't know about. You have to email support and ask them to add a particular pax to your block list and they will do it.
Drivers are independent contractors and as such are not required to accept all rides nor are they penalized for canceling the rides. On the flip side passengers also cancel when there is a surge.
You can cancel a trip at any time through the Uber app, but may be charged a cancellation fee if you cancel after you're matched with your driver. Cancellation fees pay drivers for the time and effort they spend getting to your location.
In the high-tech world that offers you the opportunity to hail a ride through an app on your mobile phone, you might think it's easy to choose whether you would like a man or a woman driver. Not so fast — neither Uber nor Lyft offer you the choice to choose the sex of your driver.
Many drivers cancel rides since they see the mode of payment on the app. The reason is they find it difficult to set aside enough money to meet their daily expenses.
Not every deactivation notice includes an explanation. If you were deactivated without any stated reason, you must contact Uber to get more information. You can call the driver support line a 1-800-593-7069, send a Tweet to @Uber_Support, or send a message in the driver app.
In the seconds after a rider requests a ride, we evaluate nearby drivers and riders in one batch. We then pair riders and drivers in the distribution, aiming to reduce the average wait time for everyone, not just the closest pair. This helps keep things moving and rides reliable across the network.
Uber uses "batch matching" to connect riders with drivers. That means Uber doesn't just find the closest ride to you; instead, the ride-hailing company takes into account the most optimized ride for everyone around you.
When a driver accepts your request for a ride, your app provides confirmation of your driver's vehicle make, model, and license plate number. This info helps you recognize the driver's vehicle at your pickup location.
Bonus: Uber Rarely (if ever) deactivates users for not accepting rides. Many drivers are afraid to ignore ride requests because they fear being deactivated by Uber, Lyft, or whoever they may be driving for. Actually, Uber and Lyft don't explicitly state that a driver can be deactivated for a low acceptance rate…
Uber says it doesn't collect gender information. It's keen for more and more information about me, including finding out when I'm drunk, filing a patent last month with the US Patent and Trademark Office for technology capable of determining a passenger's state of mind.
As outlined in our Community Guidelines, no one other than the requesting rider and the rider's guests are permitted in the vehicle.
In-vehicle safety features: Because a taxi company owns the vehicles drivers use, they can require more safety features. These additional features, like safety cameras, work to protect both passengers and drivers. Established industry: Taxis have been around for decades.
After 12 hours, drivers must be offline for 8 consecutive hours before driving again. If you go offline at any point, that time will not be counted toward the 12-hour limit. Any time spent online and driving with Uber counts toward the 12-hour driving limit.
Uber Cancellation Window
For economy rides, you have up to two minutes after your Uber driver has accepted to cancel without a fee.
There's no official definition of what is considered a long distance Uber, but a good rule of thumb is that if it's more than 100 miles from start to finish, you can consider it long distance.
Wait time fees
If a driver cancels your ride as a no-show after 5 minutes of waiting (or 15 minutes for Uber Black), you will only be charged the no-show cancellation fee. Any accumulated wait time fees won't be added on top of the cancellation fee. The wait time fee does not apply to airport and UberX Share trips.
If an order you've accepted is canceled, you'll receive a pop-up notification in your Driver app. For canceled orders, please safely discard the food. If you're en route to the dropoff location and the order is canceled, you'll still be paid the pickup fee.
Drivers across the U.S. will be able to see exactly how much they'll earn and where they're going before they accept a trip. They'll also be able to see more than one trip request at a time by using a new feature called Trip Radar. Uber said those changes will also help lower wait times for riders.
Most drivers do not mind if you sit up front, but it is always polite to ask them before hopping in. Some drivers use the passenger seat to store items they may need, and moving those things can be a hassle. Some drivers may be more comfortable with passengers in the back seat.
