The lightning bolt scar that was so vibrant in the first films has almost completely disappeared. The scar is no longer dark, and instead has faded almost to his usual skintone. Scars do fade with time, but J.K Rowling wrote in the book that: "The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well."
The Scar does not get removed permanently, as mentioned in the books especially in OotP while Harry had insights into Voldemorts mind ,his scar burned a lot and turned very red. But after the Battle of Hogwarts was finished and Voldemort destroyed,Harry leads a perfectly normal life as an auror for wizarding standards.

In the "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", in the scene where prof. Lupin teaches them to get rid of boggart , Harry's scar is on the left side of his forehead! In the next scene of the same movie the scar moved to the left, where it used to be before and will be later.
The scar was a side effect of the curse. Dumbledore is powerful, but not powerful enough to erase effects of dark magic without bringing harm upon Harry. Because not all wounds can be healed. Those done by Dark magic are too engraved and permanent.

Her sacrifice gave Harry the power of love, a protection spell sealed with the blood spilled by her death.
