Yes he did. Vader followed Emperor Palpatine's advice on how to save his wife, betrayed everything he stood for, and lost everything he cared about including his wife.
The reason Vader never successfully overthrew the Emperor wasn't from lack of ambition, but more from a lack of allies. Even in Revenge Of The Sith Anakin planned to surpass Palpatine by telling Padme that they could overthrow the Chancellor and rule the galaxy together.
Vader's confessing that Luke is his son and that they could rule the galaxy together speaks to the person Anakin used to be – the one desperate for connection and love. It wasn't until Vader betrayed Palpatine that he was able to embrace the light, but that instinct was always there, clawing its way out.
In the latest issue of Marvel's Darth Vader, the dark lord tried to take down his master, Emperor Palpatine...but it failed spectacularly.
While Vader and Palpatine have had their conflicts, this will be their first known time lightsaber dueling in the existing canon.
But did Vader ever regret his transformation? RELATED: Sauron vs. Darth Vader: Who Is the Greater Dark Lord? The short answer is yes, without a doubt, Vader regretted becoming a cybernetic monstrosity.
Vader's suit is unbearably itchy. He also has needles stuck in him all the time. The Dark Lord has claustrophobia due to his suit. The iconic "I am your father" line was initially kept secret, even from the actors.
In Star Wars Legends and Canon, Galen Marek (Starkiller) is the only Jedi (other than Obi-Wan Kenobi) to put a beat down on Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker.
Luke Skywalker
However, once Luke fully embraced his power in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, he proved that he was indeed stronger than Darth Vader and struck his father down.
Vader used his pain and anger to fuel his Dark Side powers, becoming one of the most powerful Sith ever and perhaps the most feared. He was the enforcer of the Empire, using his red lightsaber and black armor to strike fear into his enemies, becoming an instrument of terror to fight the Rebels.
Written by Greg Pak, the first arc of the series saw Vader investigating Padmé Amidala's death and how she gave birth to a son before she died. That arc wrapped up, but as Vader reported back to Emperor Palpatine, the Emperor prepared to punish Vader for his disobedient rebellion.
He was extremely wary I would say with a minor to moderate fear of Vader. Now I'm not sure what is canon and what isn't anymore so take what I say with some leeway, however he went out of his way to construct Vader's suit to be painful and weak against his most powerful ability force lightning.
The Emperor Is Worse!
There is also the fact that Anakin wasn't born evil, and was only lured to the Dark Side through his loved ones. Meanwhile, Palpatine was already inherently evil as a child and wanted power for power's sake.
Unable to see his son get killed, Vader steps in and throws Palpatine down the reactor shaft, to his apparent death. While this is happening though, Darth Vader gets fatally electrocuted. Luke, at his father's request, takes off his helmet so he can look at his son one last time, with his real face.
In Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Darth Vader felt defeated and more importantly trapped, again. He was still reeling over Luke's rejection of his offer and felt that at this juncture, he was far too gone to the dark side, so he might as well remained loyal to Emperor Palpatine.
So, instead of tossing the Emperor into the shaft by using a Force push or whatever, George Lucas had him physically pick up the Emperor so that he could be mortally wounded by coming into contact with the Emperor's Force lightning.
Introduced in the first film in the original Star Wars trilogy, Governor Tarkin is the Grand Moff of the Galactic Empire and commander of the Death Star.

1 Darth Sidious
There has been no Sith, as powerful, meticulous, nor as evil as the Emperor himself, Darth Sidious. As previously mentioned, Sidious trained in the Dark Side by Darth Plagueis before Sidious killed Plagueis in his sleep, making Sidious a Sith Master.
Aside from agility and telekinesis, Yoda could absorb and redirect Force attacks, like lightning. Because of his higher understanding, he would easily overcome Darth Vader in a fight, though that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a difficult battle.
Most specifically though, Vader hated the most important person in his life, his son Luke Skywalker. Vader believed that Luke was the only thing standing between him and ultimate power. So, in short, the person Darth Vader hated the most was his own son- Luke Skywalker.
In the Star Wars Universe, it's hard to deny Darth Vader's greatest enemy was the Jedi Order. Sure, he had enemies such as Qi'ra, the Crimson Dawn and Doctor Aphra. But few came close to truly defeating him, other than Obi-Wan Kenobi and in time, his son, Luke Skywalker.
but other than that he simply refused to do any more upgrades. reason number one was because it was simply too dangerous surprisingly vader was handed the opportunity to upgrade his suit in a major way this happened in the days right after the battle of yavin. and the destruction of the death star by luke skywalker.
9 Weak Against Electricity
Designed by Darth Sidious, the Sith Emperor ensured to monitor the suit's production process and incorporate his own sinister designs. Though Sidious included some essential life support elements to the suit, he also ensured it was weak against lightning.
Even after his brutal scorching in the fires of Mustafar, sand remained the only natural phenomenon that Vader feared. To him, sand was a reminder that he'd failed to save his mother or Padme from death.
