In the Messages app , you can delete messages and entire conversations from your device. With Messages in iCloud, anything you delete from iPhone is also deleted from your other Apple devices where Messages in iCloud is turned on.
You can retrieve deleted text messages on your iPhone by restoring them using an iCloud backup. You can also use iTunes or Finder to recover your iPhone's texts if you saved backups to your computer.
How long do deleted text messages stay in iCloud? Normally your deleted text messages will be kept for 30 days. After 30 days, they will be permanently deleted and you will have difficulty restoring them to your phone.
When you delete a piece of data from your device — a photo, video, text or document — it doesn't vanish. Instead, your device labels that space as available to be overwritten by new information.
Note: Any message that you delete from a conversation using Undo Send is permanently deleted.
All of your deleted text messages can be found in the Messages app. To find your trashed messages, open Messages and tap the Filters option in the top left of your text threads. Here you can filter your text messages by known senders, unread messages and more. However, the option we want is Recently Deleted.
When you set up iCloud for Messages, your messages are stored in the cloud instead of locally on your device. You can see them on any device that's set up for iCloud and Messages, including your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac.
If you delete a message, you can't get it back. If you don't want to keep your conversations up to date across all your devices, you can turn the Messages in iCloud feature off. If you turn it off on iPhone or iPad, your message history is included in a separate iCloud backup.
You can do this by navigating to Settings > General > Reset. Once your phone is reset, navigate to the Apps & Data screen. On this screen, select Restore from iCloud Backup.
On iCloud.com, you can immediately and permanently remove files you deleted from iCloud Drive, iWork apps, or other apps within the last 30 days, whether you deleted them on iCloud.com or another device that has iCloud Drive turned on.
Deleting Texts From Your Android Phone
You can delete individual texts or conversations within your messaging app. For individual texts, hover over the text you want to delete within the conversation and select the trash can icon in the top right corner to delete.
When you tap Erase All Content and Settings, it completely erases your device, including any credit or debit cards you added for Apple Pay and any photos, contacts, music, or apps. It will also turn off iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, Game Center, and other services.
If you backup or synchronize your phone to iCloud then anybody who has the details for that account, or even has their phone connected to the same account (a family member, for example), could potentially see your personal text messages.
There is no such thing as viewing messages in iCloud. The iCloud service syncs your messages across all your devices. You view your messages in your Messages app on your iPhone/iPad/iPod/Mac that are signed on with the same Apple ID.
Recover deleted text messages on a Samsung Galaxy phone
When you delete a text message on your Samsung phone, the Messages app sends it to Recycle bin for 30 days. After a month, the Recycle bin permanently deletes the message. Open the Messages app on your Samsung phone.
If you have backed up your phone to Google Drive, the backup may contain your deleted texts. Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Backup and restore. Under your Google account, tap Google Account to check if there is a Google Drive backup created before the messages were deleted.

Deleted text messages are usually retrievable from a phone, but before beginning the process, law enforcement officers would need to obtain a court order. Once obtained, officers can use mobile device forensic tools (MDFTs) to extract any data from a device, including emails, texts, images and location data.
If you simply delete a text, they are still available. And there are common forensics tools used by both law enforcement and civil investigators to recover them.
Here's how: Long-press the message thread you'd like to remove. It will highlight with a checkmark. Tap on the trash can icon at the bottom and confirm.
