Every phone has a unique number—15 digits that tells you the make, model, and if it's ready to use on our network. Most phones are compatible. IMEI STATUS CHECK: Dial *#06# to get your phone's IMEI, or find it in phone settings.
You can find out what it is by dialing *#06# on any mobile. Alternatively, if you've got an iPhone, you can go into the Settings app and choose General —> About to find it. Once you've got the number, just enter it into the IMEI.info web site and you'll find out if you're unlocked or not.
First go to Settings and then Cellular. If you see a Cellular Data option under the Cellular menu, then your iPhone is unlocked. If you don't see “Cellular Data Network” as an option under Cellular, then the phone is locked.
Factory reset does not remove a sim lock. The device will work if the sim is from the same carrier.
The best way to quickly check whether a mobile phone is locked or not is to slip the SIM card out, and put in one from another network. If it can make calls, send texts, and connect to the internet, that means your phone is unlocked. Just make sure that the two SIMs don't actually connect to the same network.
You can still have your phone's IMEI unblocked or removed from the carrier's block list. The easiest way to unlock blacklisted iPhone devices is to contact the previous owner and ask for their help.
Go to https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx. Enter your server IP or domain name and click the “Blacklist Check” button to perform an email blacklist check. After a few seconds, you should see a long list of popular email blacklists with status messages right next to them.
But in general, you can go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Operators and tap Search Now to see if the names of other carriers come up. If multiple carrier names show up, your phone might be unlocked.
No tracking of lost or stolen: Your mobile network operator cannot track the location of a lost/stolen handset using the IMEI blocking program.
Blacklisting works by blocking your phone's unique identifier (IMEI number). When a phone is blacklisted because it has been lost or stolen, it cannot make or receive calls or use data.
How do I unlock my mobile phone? You can make sure your phone actually needs unlocking by inserting a SIM card from another network into your mobile phone. If it's locked, a message will appear on your home screen. The simplest way to unlock your device is to ring your provider and ask for a Network Unlock Code (NUC).
Usually, the unlock code is obtained from the supplier within a maximum period of 24 business hours, although there are cases where this could take anywhere from one hour up to three business days. Other times, the code is provided in less than 15 minutes.
If you choose to keep a device with a blacklisted number, you will most likely not be able to use cellular services. In other words, you will not be able to use your device as a phone. However, you will still have the ability to play music, movies, or games.
We only recommend users call carrier to unblock, cause it's the only official way to remove IMEI blacklist.
1.1 Each mobile handset has a unique identification number known as an International Mobile Equipment Identity number or more commonly an IMEI. With the IMEI being unique to the individual handset it provides police opportunities to identify and recover stolen property.
Still, the easiest way to know 100% if you have an unlocked phone or not is to call your provider and ask them if they sell locked phones or if your handset is an unlocked phone. They may even have an online portal where you can check your phone's status yourself.
Click Settings. Select Security. Select Set up SIM card lock. Toggle the SIM card lock feature On or Off.
If a phone was locked, the service provider installed some software on the phone that tied the subscriber ID number on the SIM card to the serial number of that particular phone. If the SIM card and phone serial number didn't match, the phone simply wouldn't work.
A SIM lock, simlock, network lock, carrier lock or (master) subsidy lock is a technical restriction built into GSM and CDMA mobile phones by mobile phone manufacturers for use by service providers to restrict the use of these phones to specific countries and/or networks.
How can you find out? It's simple to find out if your phone is locked. Simply insert a SIM card from another carrier (you'll be able to get one free from a phone shop or by ordering one online) and see if the name of the network appears on your handset.
