In Messages, select a conversation with the message you want to edit. Touch and hold the message bubble, then tap Edit. to revert. Note: The message is marked as Edited in the conversation transcript.
Edit a sent message
On your Android device, go to a conversation and touch and hold your message. Tap Edit. Make your changes.
Tap and hold the message you want to remove. In the pop-up menu, select “Undo Send.” Both you and the recipient will see a note confirming that you unsent the message.
Therefore, it's pretty common. So, if you want to send an accidental text on purpose, then it's not out of the realm of possibilities that it could have been a real “accident.” In other words, you might have a good chance of fooling the other person.
If the recipient's iPhone is not up-to-date, the edited message will come through as a new text message. The feature does not work if you're trying to edit a message sent to an Android device.
The recipient can read your message before you edit it. The recipient can tap your edited message and see its edit history. Here's how it's done: While in an iMessage conversation, tap and hold the message you want to edit.
The edit messages is only available on iOS 16 or later; this feature will not work if you use an earlier version. To use this feature on your iPhone, we recommend you update your IOS to 16.
Deleting messages changes only your own Messages conversations, not those of your recipients. Tip: Use Undo Send to retract a message you sent accidentally.
Steps to undo a edit message on iPhone
Step 1 - Open messages on your iPhone and tap on a conversation. Step 2 - Touch and hold the message you want to edit. Step 3 - Now, simply tap on the Edit icon. Here, make edits to your message and then tap the checkmark to finalize the message.
Beware that you can only edit the message up to five time and that changes must happen within 15 minutes of the text being sent. This feature only works on iMessage, meaning it won't let you edit SMS messages or any sent to Android users.
Change a reaction
Important: You can only change your own reactions. Tap and hold the message you reacted to. Select a new reaction.

Apple lets you edit iMessages in the Messages app on iOS 16 and later, but everyone in the chat can see all the edits between the final and original text.
