Press the Windows logo key and the Print Screen key to take a screenshot.
If you only want to grab a screenshot of the active window, press the Alt and Print Screen keys together. Your captured screenshot is copied to the clipboard automatically and you must open Microsoft Paint, Photoshop, or whatever image software you use to paste it so you can edit and save it.
Press and hold the On/Off and Volume Down buttons at the same time. These screenshots will be in your Pictures folder inside a "Screenshots" folder. If you're using a tablet and can't press buttons, go to the Notifications Center (in your taskbar), and select Screen snip.
NOTE: The Print Screen key is typically located in the upper right corner of the keyboard. Some keyboard models label the Print Screen key differently, such as PrintScreen, PrntScrn, PrntScr, PrtScn, PrtScr, PrtSc, or a similar abbreviation.
Depending on your hardware, you may use the Windows Logo Key + PrtScn button as a shortcut for print screen. If your device does not have the PrtScn button, you may use Fn + Windows logo key + Space Bar to take a screenshot, which can then be printed.
Press the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time. If that doesn't work, press and hold the Power button for a few seconds. Then tap Screenshot. If neither of these work, go to your phone manufacturer's support site for help.
Press Ctrl + PrtScn keys. The entire screen changes to gray including the open menu. Select Mode, or in earlier versions of Windows, select the arrow next to the New button. Select the kind of snip you want, and then select the area of the screen capture that you want to capture.
If there is an F Mode key or F Lock key on your keyboard, the Print Screen not working Windows 10/11 may be caused by them, because such keys can disable the PrintScreen key. If so, you should enable the Print Screen key by pressing F Mode key or F Lock key again.
Step 2: Press the 'Print screen' key: Prt Sc or PrtScn. This is usually on the top row of the keyboard. When you press this, you'll be taking a screenshot of the desktop. On some laptop keyboards, if the Prt Sc text is on the top line of a button, you will need to press and hold the Shift key and then press Prt Sc.
Press Windows Key + Shift + S to use the Snipping Tool and create a screen snip.
Press “Windows + Shift + S”. Your screen will appear grayed out and your mouse cursor will change. Click and drag on your screen to select the part of your screen you want to capture. A screenshot of the screen region you selected will be copied to your clipboard.
The most common way to take a screenshot
On most Android devices, you can take a screenshot by pressing the Volume down button and Power button simultaneously for a second or two.
If your Chromebook has it, press the Screenshot key . If your Chromebook doesn't have a Screenshot key , press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows . If your external keyboard doesn't have a Show windows key , press Ctrl + Shift + F5.
An outdated or incorrect keyboard driver might cause the Print Screen button not working in Windows. If you have tried the above methods and cannot fix the screenshot issue, you can try updating your keyboard driver. Step 1. Press “Win + X” keys, and then select the Device Manager option to open it.
Alt + Print Screen: Copy the active window to the clipboard. This is another keyboard shortcut that builds off of Print Screen. This shortcut with copy content as it appears in the active window on your desktop. Windows + Shift + S: Copy a specific portion of the Windows 11 desktop to the clipboard.
However, you can use the keyboard shortcut key Ctrl + P to open the print window on a PC or Command + P to open the print window on an Apple computer.
