It's fairly common to feel emotional or sexual attraction for those who ignore us. Thus, instead of interacting with people who treat you with affection and could become potential partners, most have a tendency to idealize those who reject them. Psychologically, this effect is known as “reactance”.
Presumably, we're addicted to thoughts of what could have been but never will be. Once we get stuck on those thoughts, being rejected by the other person can intensify them, leaving us to deal with obsession, which is a kind of addiction—or an addiction to thoughts of a certain kind.
“You might feel angry, sad, confused, and betrayed.” And while you might want to pour all these emotions out to them — or call them until they pick up — when someone ignores your texts, thoughtfully reaching out to the person ignoring you may help the situation.
