Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was first published in 1927 and is still on Hogwarts required books list over sixty years later when Harry Potter arrives. Newt's work clearly proved him the preeminent authority on the Magizoology subject, making him something of the Charles Darwin of the Wizarding World.
Newt Scamander is an introverted British wizard and magizoologist. His help is often sought by his former professor Albus Dumbledore in the mission to defeat the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
The Fantastic Beasts franchise featured the first live-action appearance of Newt Scamander, but his first mention came in the Harry Potter movies.
Newt Scamander and Harry Potter were catapulted to fame in the wizarding world – and it wasn't always easy being reluctant celebrities.
Unlike Harry, Newt was a highly skilled wizard and Magizoologist. With his talents forming the foundation for how he operated as a wizard, Newt became one of the craftiest magic users of his era.
Newt Scamander was an extraordinary wizard. Not to mention, his unique connection and friendship with magical beasts alone would give him the upper hand against the Dark Lord.
Godric Gryffindor, the founder of Gryffindor house, was one of the most powerful wizards of his age, so powerful that he was said to be the greatest duelist of that era. Always ready for battle, Godric wouldn't just use a simple wand, he'd also wield a mighty sword.
He's Luna Lovegood's grandfather-in-law
Luna Lovegood ends up marrying Rolf Scamander, who is Newt's grandson. If grandson is anything like his grandfather — which is quite likely, as both are magizoologists — that means we can expect Newt to be a bit of an eccentric. His family history supports this.
However, one theory justifies Newt's appearance on the Marauder's Map. It is possible that Newt may have been in Hogwarts to try to save Buckbeak, the hippogriff, from execution. This makes sense given Newt's background and the Harry Potter timeline.
Newt opposing the Dark Lord is never mentioned in the series. Though it's possible that Newt could have been in the opposing forces against the Dark Lord, he's never mentioned as taking part in the fight against him in any way.
Voldemort has yet to appear in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, but he is still part of the overall timeline and it's possible to guess what he's doing during that time. The Fantastic Beasts series is part of the Harry Potter universe, and takes place years before the events of the Harry Potter film series.
“The reason he loves Newt is that Newt loves beasts and I think he thinks he's a beast.” The actor continued: “I think he thinks he's dark, that he's seen and done things that he wishes he hadn't and he's constantly pulling himself back on the right moral side.”
However, for this reason, Newt is more compelling than Harry. Even by his first appearance, the young magizoologist has traveled to places like Egypt and Africa in his pursuit of magical creatures. He's also past his Hogwarts days, becoming Dumbledore's favorite student.
Eddie Redmayne said that he believes the character has autism during an interview.
If you're confused about how Dumbledore actually knows that though, it's because the legendary wizard actually used to teach Newt. Before he became Harry Potter's headmaster, he was first Newt Scamander's transfiguration professor.
Meanwhile, Newt was a Hufflepuff, who are known to be hard workers, loyal and dedicated. He rarely grew angry in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but instead accepted his fate when he was arrested by Tina, and remained cool-headed after being given the death penalty (and fought his way out, of course).
We are sure that Hufflepuffs the world over rejoiced in jubilation when Newt Scamander opened his suitcase to reveal a cheerful, yellow Hufflepuff scarf. Here's how the hero of Fantastic Beasts perfectly represents his Hogwarts house.
We know that Snape's mother, Eileen Prince, was disowned from her family because she married a muggle, Tobias Snape. Had Queenie been Tobias' mother, he'd have been either a squib or a wizard, and he was neither.
No. You do realize that Hagrid is his surname and that his first name is Rubeus, right? If Newt Scamander were his father, then his name would be Rubeus Scamander. Not to mention that Hagrid stated that his father died while he was still a student, while Newt was still alive in the 1990's.
Here is what else we know about Scamander: He was born in 1897, sorted into the Hufflepuff house at Hogwarts. He became a magizoologist at the encouragement of his mother, who was a breeder of the hippogriff, a magical creature that is half eagle, half horse.
Harry is the Heir of Gryffindor (though his powers have been bound by his father when he was a baby), Neville is the Heir of Hufflepuff, Meghan (OFC, daughter of Sirius) is the Heir of Ravenclaw. Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Remus/Tonks.

It's they who are able to pull his sword out of the Sorting Hat in times of need and peril and in order to use it selflessly for the greater good. Harry and Neville are both heirs of Gryffindor, as are all the other wizards who did the same throughout time.
