And in
2019's 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' revealed Rey to be the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine. Star Wars sequel trilogy actress Daisy Ridley has shared her thoughts on Rey's family tree.
But that itself ended up not being the final revelation, as Rey was firmly connected as Emperor Palpatine's granddaughter (yes, the Emperor Palpatine) in The Rise of Skywalker. The culmination of that movie saw her reject that family and instead carry on the mantle of the Skywalker name.
In the film, we learned that Rey was a Palpatine, and her father was a clone of the infamous Sith Lord. However, it did raise the question of why would Palpatine let one of his clones escape especially since he was later revealed to be a failed clone.
Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, did not have any known children in the Star Wars canon. Who did Palpatine have a kid with? In current canon, as far as we know, Palpatine never procreated naturally. According to the Rise of Skywalker novelization, his “son”, Rey's father, was a clone of Sheev.
Trioculus is killed by a droid replica of Princess Leia. Triclops is Palpatine's illegitimate son, named because of his three eyes. He is sent into solitary exile because the Emperor fears Triclops' potential mastery of the dark side of the Force.
Rey was born on Hyperkarn in 15 ABY during the rise of the New Republic. Her father, Dathan, was a bioengineered Strand-Cast cloned from the genetic template of Darth Sidious, the Sith Lord who ruled the Galactic Empire as Emperor Palpatine.
But a new tie-in novel, Shadow of the Sith by Adam Christopher, finally fixes this. Rey's parents are none other than Dathan and Miramir. No, that's not a typo. Her dad's name is Dathan, which is at least slightly better than Sheev Palpatine.
She is the grand-daughter of Darth Sidious as well as the protégé of Luke Skywalker. She has a unique connection to both sides of the Force. This begs the question – which side of the Force resonates the best with Rey? Technically speaking, she is a Jedi.
Leia knew it, too" This realization takes Rey by surprise, as there had been few hints about her heritage up to that point. Now, Luke may have known that fact even before meeting Rey, as before he went into hiding, Luke and Lando traveled across the Galaxy to investigate any possible Sith tracks.
A crystal embodies the Jedi as the heart of the lightsaber, and pure kyber has no color until it's bonded to the Force user. This process likely resulted in Rey Skywalker's lightsaber being yellow.
Following Palpatine's final defeat and her own resurrection, Rey adopts the name Rey Skywalker to honor her mentors and their family legacy and renounce her lineage. As the last remaining Jedi, she makes it her mission to rebuild the Jedi Order.
In The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, art director Rick Carter expressed his opinion that Rey was the one who fulfilled the prophecy rather than Anakin, stating that while that one would be a Skywalker, it didn't necessarily need to be one by blood.
More Stories by Kyle Kizu. After years of speculation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi revealed that Rey (Daisy Ridley), the main character of the new trilogy, is not the child of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). In fact, she's the child of “nobody” — per Rey's own words. However, the subtitle for J.J.
By the end of The Rise of Skywalker, Rey had become the last known Jedi of the Skywalker Saga.
Do Rey and Kylo have kids? She does not have a baby bump, her hand never goes to her stomach to indicate she's carrying a child, and there wasn't exactly any time for her to have conceived a child with anyone in the course of the film, including Kylo Ren/Ben Solo.
Seemingly abandoned by her parents on Jakku, Rey grew up a scavenger amid the wreckage of war. Her life changed when she agreed to help a droid on an urgent mission for the Resistance. Rey discovered she was powerful in the Force, and sought out the vanished Jedi Master Luke Skywalker to train her.
Admittedly, Rey skills couldn't possibly be as developed as Anakin's or Luke's. Nevertheless, considering how fast of a learner she is, and how unique the powers she possesses are, it's not a stretch to say that Rey could be a more powerful Jedi than Anakin and Luke Skywalker.
Rey was almost revealed as a Kenobi in Star Wars, an idea that would have radically changed the entire sequel trilogy. Although Rey ended up being Palpatine's granddaughter, director J.J. Abrams also considered making her a descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi, a popular fan theory since the beginning of the sequel trilogy.
Following the Sith assassin Ochi's hunt for them, Dathan and his wife stole Ochi's starship, the Bestoon Legacy, to return to Jakku; the threat of discovery compelled Rey's parents to leave her with Unkar Plutt. As reluctant as they were to leave Rey behind, they did so to protect her from Sidious.
It's now the turn of Rey's parents, who we briefly saw in The Rise of Skywalker, played by Jodie Comer and Billy Howle. In that movie, we saw a flashback to when they left Rey (Daisy Ridley) on Jakku, which also included Ochi of Bestoon tracking them down and killing them when they refused to reveal Rey's location.
Master Yoda has risen above all others to claim the top spot as the most powerful Jedi of all time and the true chosen one according to IGN's audience. He won pretty handily as well, as he was victorious in 89,756 of his 95,243 battles and had a win percentage of 94.2%.
What is the connection between Kylo Ren and Rey? As Kylo Ren himself says in The Rise of Skywalker, he and Rey are bonded not just by their familial legacies (Ren as the grandson of Darth Vader and Rey as the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine) but by their unique connection in the Force.
Having refounded the Jedi Order and trained several new Jedi including Leia, Luke eventually marries an enemy-turned-ally Mara Jade, and they have a son named Ben, who was voted the 40th top Star Wars character by IGN and the 6th top Star Wars Expanded Universe character by UGO Networks.
Finally, Rey is Kylo Ren's aunt through Anakin Skywalker. This means that Kylo and Rey's romance is just as genetically awkward as Luke and Leia's kiss on Hoth was. Granted, neither pair knew they were related at the time, but that's no excuse.
