Even the very gentlest No Poo hair washing methods can get hair clean, without having to cut through excess amounts of oil for every wash. A small amount of natural oils can stay on hair which makes hair soft, hydrated, and frizz-free – without looking oily.
Instead of using shampoo on the daily after you've got all sweaty, simply use the water-only method and then use an alternative shampoo once or twice a week. Your hair will be relieved after being used to all that washing with conventional shampoo.
Many people who have tried the no-poo method for several months note that their hair becomes thinner and falls outmuch more than their usual shedding. If you ever use heat styling appliances, the damage will happen even faster.
The ideal ratio is about 1 tbsp of baking soda per 1 cup of water. When you get in the shower, fill the rest of the cup with water and stir until the baking soda is dissolved.
