It can be applied over the foliage and around the root system of the plant. It is usually applied every 2-4 weeks. You can continue to water your plants anytime after applying the product.
Are Seaweed Fertilisers Good for All Plants? All types of plants can benefit from seaweed fertilisers. Containing complex carbs and vital minerals, seaweed extract delivers every plant with the valuable nutrients needed to grow and thrive.
Because of the nature of the product, the shelf life is shorter than granular, inorganic products. To get the longest life out of your seaweed fertilizer store the concentrated product in a tightly closed container at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. Under these conditions, it will stay stable for a year.
You should be applying a liquid fertilizer every 3-5 weeks through your grass's growing season for best results.
How often should I apply Seasol? For optimum results it should be applied to the garden every 2 weeks, more frequently (every week) if plants are under stress. Unlike fertilizers, Seasol can be applied all year round, even in winter and at the height of summer.
You can't overdose on Seasol. It's not a Fertiliser. But it does have amazing healing qualities. One capful in a 10 litre watering can will treat around 4m2.
Do not apply when rain is expected as it will just get washed away. Spray should not come into contact with foliage/roots of plants that you do not want to kill. Seasol Another brilliant product!
When using liquid fertilizer as a foliar spray, it should be done in the cooler part of the day to prevent leaf sun-scald. Early morning, late afternoon or even overcast days. Spraying can be done as often as daily to every weeks for best results.
Applying too much fertilizer to your lawn will cause the nitrogen and salt levels in the soil to increase rapidly, which can damage or even kill the grass. When this happens, it is known as “fertilizer burn” and looks like yellow and brown strips or patches of dead grass.
Too much of anything can be detrimental. Over fertilizing in general can cause excess leaf and stem growth and little or no flowers. Even more fertilizer can burn your plants. Start with proper soil preparation to give you plants a healthy growing foundation.
Seaweed also directly feeds grass. The nutrients are absorbed as a foliar feed through the leaves or in the soil by the roots. It increases chlorophyll production in leaves helping the grass produce more food for itself.
You can put them directly on beds; they will be salty, so you can't plant direct into them, but a winter of rain will wash the excess salt away. If you don't have beds that are suitable for such methods, add the seaweed to your compost, or compost it on its own.
Liquid seaweed fertilizer improves soil fertility, helps prevent compaction, and promotes moisture retention while improving drainage of excess water. More Buds, Longer Production Liquid seaweed fertilizer helps plants produce more buds when it's applied to soil just as the plants or trees are beginning to bud.
Another benefit of using seaweed fertiliser over time is it acidifies and adds iron to the soil, which is great news if you are growing acid and iron hungry plants like gardenias, camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons.
Research has also demonstrated that brown algae seaweed extracts can improve tomato plant growth, overall crop yield, and resistance to environmental stressors. Additional documented benefits of using seaweed as a fertilizer include reduced transplant shock, increased leaf surface area, and increased sugar content.
DIRECTION TO USE: To make 1 Liter of seaweed Liquid Spray for plants. STEP: 1 Take 3ml of Seaweed liquid extract (Concentrate) and add it to 1 liter of plain water. STEP: 2 Mix them thoroughly until it's mixed very well. STEP: 3 spray the diluted seaweed liquid all over the plant or apply directly to the Soil.
The main disadvantages that come with liquid fertilizer is that they can sometimes be more expensive than granular fertilizers, and they are more susceptible to volatilization (or turned into a gas and potentially evaporated into the atmosphere).
If your lawn gets liquid fertilizer, wait until it dries before watering, about 2-4 hours. If it's granular fertilizer, water right away. One exception: if you also got spot weed treatments at the same time, wait for that to dry before watering, or the water will wash off the weed killer before it can work.
Most liquid fertilizers will only last in the soil for about one to two weeks before they have to be reapplied. The exact time will vary depending on the type of fertilizer you have, but generally, you will have to use them every seven to fourteen days.
Late afternoon or early evening (when there's still light, of course) is the best time of day to apply lawn fertilizer. Applying it in the heat of a scorching afternoon can cause the sun's rays to burn your grass—and when your goal is “lush and green,” burned grass blades simply won't cut it.
In the winter season, you won't see tremendous results quickly, but in the spring you should see noticeable results in a week or two.
Liquid fertilizer is taken up by the leaf of your turfgrass and needs to remain on the leaves for at least a few hours to be adequately taken up by the plant. Generally, waiting 12-24 hours before watering is perfectly fine and will ensure the nutrients are taken up completely.
After mowing apply Seasol hose-on to strengthen leaf blades to reduce stress from heat and drought. Apply it early morning so the grass has time to dry before the onset of a cool night. For more details check out our video “How to Care for Lawns – Mowing & maintenance”.
Seasol is a seaweed concentrate containing plant nutrients, trace elements, alginic acids and bioactive compounds. Seasol promotes plant growth, healthy roots and encourages beneficial soil micro-organisms.
Seasol and PowerFeed are liquids, they are readily absorbed into the soil and the plant foliage. Therefore you do not need to water them in. If you are treating your soil with Seasol Super Soil Wetter and Conditioner, please ensure that you do wash it off the foliage, to prevent burning.
