To use picture-in-picture (PiP), exit the YouTube app while a video is playing. If you have the PiP setting turned on, the video will shrink into a PiP window. The PiP window can be dragged to different parts of the screen, allowing playback to continue on top of other apps.
Method 1: Using Built-in PiP Mode
Then type chrome://flags in the browser's address bar and Hit Enter. Now search for the Global Media Controls Picture-in-Picture flag in the Flags search box. The setting will likely be 'Default'. Click on that button and from the drop-down menu, choose 'Enabled'.
The first time you right-click the video pane you will see a menu for doing things like looping a video. The second time you right-click the video pane you will get a different menu that has other browser-based options. From that menu click on Picture in Picture.
Right-click on the video, hover over the Open with tab, and select Movies & TV or Media Player. Once the video is playing, select the Play in mini view (in Movies & TV) or Mini player option (in Media Player). Your video will now play in Picture in Picture mode, feel free to move it around or resize it as you see fit.
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Alt+P on Windows, CTrl+P on Chrome OS or Option+P on Mac.
If you want to turn on support for the feature, you can enable its flag by pasting chrome://flags/#document-picture-in-picture-api into your URL bar, and choosing enabled from the drop-down menu.
Both Google Chrome and Firefox have Picture in Picture mode.
Restart Your Phone
If the Picture-in-Picture mode doesn't seem to work even after you enable it, restart your phone. It's an effective way to resolve minor issues with the Android. Press and hold down the power button to visit the power menu and tap on Restart.
The picture-in-picture feature is present on both Android and iOS, but it's only available to YouTube Premium subscribers. Nevertheless, you can use a few neat little tricks to watch YouTube in PiP mode on any desktop or mobile device.
Your PiP mode not working issue may have resulted from a corrupt YouTube cache. In this case, clear the app's cache files, and your issue will be resolved. Clearing the cache doesn't remove your Google account from the app or delete your account data. Note that you can only clear the app cache on Android.
Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + P opens a quick autocomplete search for panels, drawers and all the features within DevTools. Cmd/Ctrl + P opens a drawer with all available files used on the current page.
In all major Internet browsers (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Opera), pressing Ctrl + P opens a window that lets you print the current page. Most browsers now also give you the option to save the print preview as a PDF as well.
To enable picture-in-picture mode on YouTube, tap the profile portrait icon in the top-right corner of the YouTube app. Then, select Settings > General and turn on the switch next to Picture-in-picture mode.
Keyboard shortcuts
To access via the keyboard, press the combination Ctrl + Shift + ]. Firefox will attempt to launch the most relevant video on the page into a Picture-in-Picture window, or will close it if already open.
