How many of my eggs will fertilize? On average most patients will have 70-85% of their mature eggs fertilize. Immature eggs cannot be injected (ICSI) and will not fertilize in standard IVF. Egg quality and quantity also decline in a woman's 30s and 40s. While the total number of eggs cannot be increased, research has shown that egg quality can be improved. Supplements containing Myo-inositol, folic acid and melatonin have been shown to help improve egg quality and ovarian function.
Also, about 1% of implanting embryos will split into identical twins. As a result, even when “only” two embryos are transferred, triplet pregnancy can still occur. The risks of low birth weight and prematurity are not to be taken lightly.

It means that if we have 3 eggs that have been fertilized, and we have done ICSI on 12 eggs, the outcome is going to be poor because the standard fertilization rate is 80-85%. If we only got 3 eggs and all 3 fertilized, that's going to be a good outcome for that cycle. However, that is the first step of fertilization.
