Coke Zero contains two artificial sweeteners that may have negative health effects according to clinical research, but we still consider Coke Zero to be healthier than regular Coke due to the high amount of added sugar in regular Coke in the form of high fructose corn syrup.

Alternative sweeteners and zero-sugar sweetened drinks can be part of your plan to reduce added sugars, but don't get carried away. Just because something has no calories or sugar doesn't make it healthy or even beneficial in the long run.
Drinking a reasonable amount of diet soda a day, such as a can or two, isn't likely to hurt you. The artificial sweeteners and other chemicals currently used in diet soda are safe for most people, and there's no credible evidence that these ingredients cause cancer.

Social media users were quick to ask Coca-Cola whether the rumours were true, to which the company replied: “We can confirm it's not being discontinued in GB!” It replied to other users who asked the same question, stating: “Not on our watch!” and “Don't worry, Coke Zero is here to stay!”
Does Coke Zero Raise Blood Sugar? In the short term, Coke Zero Sugar will not raise blood sugar levels. This is because artificial sweeteners have no carbohydrate content nor glycemic load. However, some research suggests that sweeteners may have an effect on blood sugar levels in the long term.
Unfortunately, Coke zero, like most diet sodas, contains artificial sweeteners. In this particular case the artificial sweetener is aspartame. According to a research study performed in 2010, aspartame was actually linked to weight gain.
By quitting you may see your weight go down. A nine-year study found that older adults who drank diet soda kept packing on belly fat. A piggyback study found that having a daily diet soda increases your chance of obesity by 65% during the next 10 years.
2017 reformulation
In 2017, despite increasing sales in the United States, the Coca-Cola Company announced that Coca-Cola Zero would be reformulated and rebranded as Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, intended to taste more like standard Coca-Cola while emphasizing the lack of sugar content.
While both Coca-Cola Zero and Diet Coke contain the same sweeteners (a blend of aspartame and acesulfame-potassium or Ace-K) and contain zero calories, Coca-Cola Zero uses a different flavour base and delivers the great taste of Coca-Cola with zero sugar.
Coca-Cola Australia will completely phase out Coke Zero, following the successful launch of its No Sugar product, beginning from 1 August.
Coke Zero outsold Diet Pepsi last year, according to statistics from my colleague Danielle Wiener-Bronner, who covers the food sector for CNN Business. This made it the second most popular “low-calorie cola carbonate.” As you might have guessed, Diet Coke is still in first place.
