There's certainly no shortage of drama in the Rocky movie franchise, with each installment in the series coming with their own depressing moments. Still, one of the saddest chapters in the movie saga came in Rocky IV when Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) dies in the middle of a fight.
Drago continues to attack Apollo without mercy, and Rocky is ready to go against his wishes and end the fight, however he hesitates due to Apollo's refusal. This turns out to be a fatal mistake, as Drago lands a final savage punch that kills him.
At the beginning of Rocky III, Rocky is fighting weak fighters due to Mickey setting up easier fights. Mickey does this because Rocky has taken two severe beatings from Apollo, almost losing his eyesight, and Mickey doesn't want to see Rocky hurt that badly again.
In one scene, Adonis asks Stallion about the secret third fight, and Rocky reveals that Apollo won.
Rocky wants his eye to be cut due to heavy swelling from Apollo Creed's attack. Benny cuts him with a razor, blood runs down his face.
It wasn't until a top-ranked challenger backed out on fighting Apollo at the last minute that he decided it would be a good publicity stunt if he took on a no-name underdog. He chose Rocky because he liked his fighting name, The Italian Stallion. But surprisingly, once they got in the ring, Rocky put up a real fight.
For the first fight with Apollo, Rocky was paid $150,000.
After their two professional bouts, Apollo training Rocky prior to his death proves that he was the best fighter. At first, Apollo is an undefeated and arrogant champion, but after his bouts with Rocky, his demeanor changed.
Out of all of Rocky's opponents, Ivan Drago was the hardest-hitting opponent he ever faced. During the height of the Cold War (in film and real life), Drago came to the United States and competed against a long-retired Apollo Creed.
Apollo wants to rematch with Rocky to prove all his critics wrong that he can beat Rocky. Can Rocky once again have a successful fight? After Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed fought each other in the ring, they were rushed to the hospital.
In Rocky IV, Apollo Creed is fatally defeated by Ivan Drago in a fight in Las Vegas. The fight in Creed 2 is a redemption match of sorts for Ivan Drago, who tells Balboa that he lost everything including his wife after losing their bout. A match between Creed and Drago is set up.
Ludmilla returned in Creed II, where it is revealed that she had given birth to Drago's son Viktor in 1990, and that she divorced Drago afterwards before marrying a rich man, leaving Drago to raise Viktor as a fierce boxer in poverty.
In Rocky IV, Apollo Creed tells Rocky Balboa not to stop the fight with Ivan Drago "no matter what." Rocky honors his friend's wishes to his everlasting regret, as the decision ultimately costs Apollo his life.
At the count of 9, Rocky manages to get up while Creed collapses. As a result, Rocky is announced the winner by knockout. Post fight, the new champion delivers a heartwarming message.
Rocky is introduced as 30 in the first Apollo Creed fight and is introduced as 34 before the rematch with Clubber Lang. This is because the movie is set three years after Rocky II (1979) which was supposed to be the following year after the original.
Strengths: Creative, handsome, supportive of all the arts of civilization. Weaknesses: Like his father Zeus, Apollo gets in trouble over love. Birthplace: On the sunny Greek island of Delos, where he was born along with his twin sister, Artemis.
Both fighters are beaten, bloodied, and bruised by the end of the bout - Rocky with severe eye damage and Apollo with internal bleeding, caused by broken ribs.
Role in the series. In the Rocky and Creed films, Apollo Creed is a heavyweight boxing champion who is a rival and later friend of Rocky Balboa.
We later learn in Creed that he no longer lives in Philly. Adonis Johnson Creed asks Rocky about his son. Rocky explains that he moved to Vancouver with his girlfriend and got a good job there. Rocky says that he moved because he was tired of being remembered as just Rocky Balboa's son, that was just a rumour.
Wepner had originally sued the Rambo and Demolition man star for $15 million, claiming Stallone improperly used his name "to promote the Rocky movies and related products for commercial purposes without… consent and without compensation," according to court documents.
Rocky's brother-in-law Paulie (Burt Young) has grown jealous of Rocky's accomplishments. After a night of heavy drinking, Paulie stumbles into a video arcade, hurls an empty whiskey bottle through a ROCKY pinball machine in a rage and is arrested.
One day Apollo saw Coronis and became enamoured of her. He lay with her in her home, and consequently she became pregnant.

HYAKINTHOS (Hyacinthus) A prince of Lakedaimonia (southern Greece) who was loved by the gods Apollon and Zephryos. He was accidentally slain by Apollon in a game of quoits and transformed into a flower.

The one that hit Apollo, was an arrow of love and intense passion. The moment he got hit by the arrow, Apollo spotted Daphne hunting in the wild and unable to contain his passion went after her.
