Nephilim are the offsprings of fallen angels and humans. They are very strong and fast, but aren't as strong as fallen angels. They are, like fallen angels, immortal and have the ability to control minds. They are bigger than the average human.
He rejects her sacrifice, which returns her soul to her body and turns Patch into her guardian angel. One of the things Patch likes about Nora from the get-go is her vulnerability, and time and again, we see Nora in dangerous situations.

Nora decides she needs to break up with Patch in order to prevent the archangels from sending him to Hell. It's not a good idea to dump her Guardian Angel, however, since all kinds of people want to kill Nora, including the reader.
Nora is a descendant of the Nephilim Chauncey Langeais, who was Patch's nephilim vessel. In Hush, Hush, in order to become human Patch would have had to kill his Nephilim vessel by killing a female descendant of his-which was Nora. He planned on allowing her to die until they fell in love with each other.
Powers and abilities
Life-force absorption: Nora can siphon the life-force from people and kill them through physical contact. She has even used electricity to substitute for another life force to save John Constantine.
At the end of the series, Patch does indeed become a human. But in the faith, there is little to nothing to say that this would have actually happened. Angels usually only ever gone to earth as fallen angels only if they got kicked out.
