Shang-Chi is human, which automatically means he's not immortal by himself. Still, the power of the Ten Rings, which holds a unique power, also prolongs the wielders' life to the level of immortality. However, Shang-Chi is as vulnerable as any other human when he is not wearing the rings.
Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth-199999)
Xu Wenwu found ten rings (as large as bracelets, to be worn on the wrists) that grant their user immortality and great power, including enhanced strength, emission of concussive energy blasts, and be used projectiles through telepathic control.
In other words, the rings have the ability to grant the user extra life. With that fact in mind, Shang-Chi should be able to live for thousands of years, if not forever, because of his newly acquired possession of the rings.
Shang-Chi is one of the greatest fighters in the Marvel Universe. Using his incredible physical prowess, martial arts mastery, and instinct, he pursues criminals and fights injustice as an Avenger and Hero for Hire.
Wenwu established himself as a powerful warlord who conquered kingdoms over the millennia, the rings' power gifting him immortality. In the modern-day, Wenwu had continued seeking power, finding the ancient city of Ta Lo. He fell in love with Ta Lo's gatekeeper, Ying Li, and fathered Xu Shang-Chi and Xu Xialing.
The Ten Rings had been in the possession of the MCU's true Mandarin (played by Tony Leung) for thousands of years, glowing blue as he wielded them as a conqueror. However, his son Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) inherited the rings in the film's final battle, leading to the change where they glowed yellow in response.
Put simply, the Mad Titan has less to lose and seemingly more to gain, at least in his own mind. Having Wenwu during the battle in Avengers: Endgame would've been a real asset, but a solo duel would only end in Thanos conquering yet another beloved MCU character.
Shang-Chi - No
While Shang-Chi wields the magical artifact of the Ten Rings masterfully, lifting Mjolnir is a different proposition entirely due to the strong will of the hammer.
Paired with the power of the Ten Rings, which provides him with super strength, advanced reflexes, energy manipulation and blasts, and longevity in life, Shang-Chi's powers are comparable to that of the Hulk, Thor, Captain Marvel, and Scarlet Witch, who may be just a step above him because she can create a whole world ...
Given that Avengers 5 is set to release on May 1, 2026, this confirms that Marvel Studios is now eyeing for Shang-Chi 2 to premiere after May 2026. However, if Liu was referring to Avengers: Secret Wars in his post, then the Shang-Chi 2 wouldn't release until after May 2027 with Disney's current schedule.
Shang-Chi's newest villain, Red Cannon, is revealed in Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings #6 as none other than Shang-Chi's sister, Shi-Hua. Shi-Hua removes her mask and shows her face at the end of the issue, as she and her sibling stand as the final combatants of the Game of Rings.
Shang-Chi's Martial Arts Skills Are Better Than Captain America's. If there's any character who can rival Steve's martial arts skills in the MCU, it's Shang-Chi. While Captain America's prowess isn't in question, it's worth noting that his background can't compare with Liu's character.
Discovered by the Mandarin in China's “Valley of Spirits,” the Ten Rings of Power are actually the product of the dragon-like race Axonn-Karr (or Makluans) from the planet Maklu-IV. The Axonn-Karr utilized them mainly as the power source for their interstellar craft's engines.
While the Ten Rings in the right hands possess massive potential, and their powers do sometimes seem to grow in order to fit the plot, the Infinity Stones still reign supreme. Their limitless abilities and unbridled potential mark them as the undisputedly most powerful objects in the MCU.
Wanting to take over Stark Industries, Stane hired the Ten Rings to kill Tony Stark. Stark had been testing his Jericho missile for the United States Air Force in Afghanistan. After a successful test, he traveled back to Bagram Air Base in a Humvee convoy.
They are depicted as iron rings wielded by Xu Wenwu, and later his son Shang-Chi. The Ten Rings grant their user enhanced strength and longevity, emit concussive energy blasts, and can be telepathically controlled as projectiles and tendrils.
I think Doctor Strange would win most of the time, and Supreme Strange obliterating him. strange, shang chi i still a damn mortal human that can bleed and die even with the rings. Strange has so many advantages and weapons he can use, like the damn mirror dimension, sling ring decapitation and various other spells.
Though Shang-Chi's training is more extensive, even to the point where he helped Spider-Man develop his own martial art, Spidey's sheer speed and mobility combined with his record of defeating opponents who are out of his league give him the edge.
It is likely that most are underestimating Shang-Chi's power. Yes, the Hulk would likely crush him, but Shang-Chi is far from the weakest in the MCU. He may not seemingly have any outright superpowers in the trailers, but even if he doesn't, neither did Black Widow—and she's even taking on Disney.
Captain Marvel can lift 200 tons when in Binary mode—a hefty 400,000 pounds that is well over the combined lift of Cap, Iron Man, Widow, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Ant-Man, the Wasp, Doctor Strange, and Hawkeye.
Shang-Chi
Combine that weapon with a man considered to be the world's greatest martial arts, and you have a concoction of ground-level skill and otherworldly power that immediately makes Shang-Chi one of Earth's mightiest mighty heroes.
Iron Fist may have more raw energy, but he has less skill and control than Shang-Chi, and he has weaknesses. Shang-Chi, meanwhile, has better technique, skills, and additional superhuman abilities that raise him to a whole different level than Iron Fist.
Iron Man hands down. If captain America can beat Ironman Shang-Chi can definitely beat him.
However, most of the time, Black Panther would win. This is because Black Panther is superior to Shang-Chi in terms of his intellect, speed, strength, and technology.
