In the United States, academic grading commonly takes on the form of five, six or seven letter grades. Traditionally, the grades are A+, A, A−, B+, B, B−, C+, C, C−, D+, D, D− and F, with A+ being the highest and F being lowest. In some cases, grades can also be numerical.
What are letter grades and how do they convert into percentages? Common examples of grade conversion are: A+ (97–100), A (93–96), A- (90–92), B+ (87–89), B (83–86), B- (80–82), C+ (77–79), C (73–76), C- (70–72), D+ (67–69), D (65–66), D- (below 65).
A - is the highest grade you can receive on an assignment, and it's between 90% and 100% B - is still a pretty good grade! This is an above-average score, between 80% and 89% C - this is a grade that rests right in the middle.
Thus, an A is a 95, halfway between 90 and 100. An A- is a 91.25, halfway between 90 and 92.5.
A+, A, A- indicates excellent performance. B+, B, B- indicates good performance. C+, C, C- indicates satisfactory performance. D+, D, D- indicates less than satisfactory performance.
A negative difference implies that the actual GPA is lower than it would have been with A+ having a higher value.
3.6 GPA = 90-92% percentile grade = A- letter grade.
The grades of A, B, C, D and P are passing grades. Grades of F and U are failing grades.
To convert your 94% to a letter grade, it depends on the scale your school uses to make a numerical grade a letter. One school I worked in stated A=to 96–100. Another decided 90–100 is an A.
While some schools will assign a 4.3 to an A+ instead of a 4.0, that is not common. There will also be some variation from school to school, but generally, a 4.0 GPA indicates straight A's through all four years of high school.

96% grade to GPA
A 96 converts to a 4.0 GPA. All percent grades 93-96.9 are in the 4.0 range. GPA is determined from a percent grade by consulting the GPA conversion table.
In general, students with a 3.0 GPA still have a chance to get into Harvard, provided that the application can demonstrate that they are what the university is looking for exactly. In some instances, hooks, such as being an athlete, allow applicants to get admitted into Harvard, even with a low GPA.
Is a 3.5 GPA Good? As a top-letter grade, a B+ or A- is considered "good." A 3.5 GPA means that a student consistently performs well on homework, tests, and projects in every subject, making it a desirable GPA across the board.
An overall average of 90 and above is an "A", a "B" is 80 - 89.9, a "C" is 70 - 79.9, et cetera.
So, strictly speaking, a 3.9 GPA is just a tenth shy of a perfect score and demonstrates academic excellence in every class. Moreover, a 3.9 GPA far exceeds the average GPA that most colleges use as their unspoken baseline for competitive admission (3.0) and the benchmark GPA for more selective colleges (3.5).
Is a 82 out of 100 a good grade? A score of 82/100 equates to a B-. A "B-" is a pretty good grade. For the most part, you're showing that you understand what you were taught in class but missed a few test questions.
A 3.4 is comfortably above the national average GPA for high school graduates and is considered competitive at most colleges and universities. It also approaches the 3.5 GPA that more selective schools use as an unofficial benchmark.
