Voltaren Emulgel contains an NSAID, diclofenac, and you can buy it over the counter from your pharmacist or from your supermarket. Diclofenac works by reducing substances in your body that cause inflammation. By reducing inflammation, Voltaren Emulgel works as an effective back pain relief.
Why can't I use Voltaren Arthritis Pain Gel for shoulders, hips, etc.? Voltaren has not been studied for the relief of arthritis pain in the shoulders, hips, and back.
When will I feel better? Diclofenac takes 20 to 30 minutes to work if you take it as tablets or capsules.
NSAIDs are often the go-to drugs for back pain relief. They can be purchased over the counter (or, in higher doses, by prescription) and include ibuprofen (Advil) and naproxen (Aleve). No muscle relaxers are available over the counter in the U.S., but some OTC medications can have muscle-relaxing effects. These include guaifenesin and NSAIDs like ibuprofen and naproxen.

You should not use Voltaren Arthritis Pain gel if you are allergic to diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, Flector, and others), or if you have ever had an asthma attack or severe allergic reaction after taking aspirin or an NSAID.
If NSAIDs don't work or aren't recommended for a particular patient, we might recommend skeletal muscle relaxers to relieve back pain. One medication that's no longer a first-line treatment recommendation for back pain is acetaminophen (Tylenol).
Over-the-counter painkillers
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as diclofenac, ibuprofen and naproxen are the most commonly used medications for low back pain. They can often relieve the symptoms a little. Lower doses of these drugs are available without a prescription.
Painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen are available to purchase over-the-counter and can help you get through the day. Paracetamol tackles all types of back pain caused by muscle or nerve strains.
Opioids, such as hydrocodone, tramadol, and oxycodone, are strong pain-relieving medications available by prescription only. They are typically prescribed for severe acute pain, such as while recovering from surgery. Some people may take opioids for chronic pain, such as back pain.
Common medications such as Ibuprofen or Tylenol help to relieve the inflamed area in these mild cases. You can also use anti-inflammatory topical creams that will help reduce inflammation and relieve some of the mild pain symptoms in your back.
Adults The recommended daily dose of Voltaren SR tablets is 75mg-150mg. Adults The recommended daily dose ranges from 1 to 3 Voltaren D dispersible tablets, depending on the situation. Children (over 14 years of age) For children over 14 years of age, 2 tablets daily is usually sufficient.
In all these tests, there were no unwanted effects attributable to long-term treatment with Voltaren. Our study would indicate that Voltaren is a safe drug which has no effect on the organs of haemopoiesis, nor on hepatic or renal function, even in long-term therapy.
No interactions were found between Panadol and Voltaren. However, this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. Always consult your healthcare provider.
