Some common brain diseases include: Brain tumors, which can press on nerves and affect brain function. Degenerative nerve diseases, which can affect many of your body's activities, such as balance, movement, talking, breathing, and heart function. Types include Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
They include Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), among many others. They're most often slowly progressive and interfere with thought, memory, movement or some combination of these things. They're more common in the elderly. Some run in families.
Immediate Problems
Some complications of TBI include seizures, nerve damage, blood clots, narrowing of blood vessels, stroke, coma, and infections in the brain. The likelihood of many of these problems decreases as more time passes and the person's condition stabilizes.
These include intracerebral hemorrhage, aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, ischemic stroke, epilepsy, brain tumors, and infectious causes.
Currently, there is no cure for Alzheimer's disease, though there has been significant progress in recent years in developing and testing new treatments. Huntington's disease is a rare, progressive brain disorder. It gradually kills nerve cells in the brain. This slowly deteriorates a person's physical and mental abilities.
