To introduce you to this world of academic writing, in this chapter I suggest that you should focus on five hierarchical characteristics of good writing, or the “5 Cs” of good academic writing, which include Clarity, Cogency, Conventionality, Completeness, and Concision.
Conversational, Clear, Concise, Connected, and Correct
Give these 5Cs of communication a try on the next few internal communications you send out and see If you notice any improvements in performance like more views or more comments.
The 5Cs: competence, civility, curiosity, credibility, and confidence can be learned or improved upon no matter if you are a recent grad or a grizzled veteran.
For shorthand, we can call it the 'Five-Cs' approach, as it consists of these five 'building blocks': common ground, complication, concern, course of action, and contribution.
Completeness: While repetitive or unnecessary information must be eliminated, the writer has a responsibility to provide essential information on a given topic. For example, in a definition of chicken pox, the reader would expect to learn that it is primarily a children's disease characterized by a rash.
The seven C's are: clear, correct, complete, concrete, concise, considered and courteous.
Good business and professional writing is clear, concise, concrete, complete, courteous, coherent and constructive. A sentence which is not complete will also be less clear, coherent and courteous.
Remembering to be clear, cohesive, complete, concise, and concrete when communicating will help improve your writing. Of course, these principles also apply to verbal communication, where things like body language and eye contact can sometimes muddle a message.
The five Cs of credit are important because lenders use these factors to determine whether to approve you for a financial product. Lenders also use these five Cs—character, capacity, capital, collateral, and conditions—to set your loan rates and loan terms.
The Five C's include critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and citizenship skills. Through application of these concepts across academic disciplines, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed post-graduation.
One way to do this is by checking what's called the five C's of credit: character, capacity, capital, collateral and conditions. Understanding these criteria may help you boost your creditworthiness and qualify for credit.
Lenders score your loan application by these 5 Cs—Capacity, Capital, Collateral, Conditions and Character. Learn what they are so you can improve your eligibility when you present yourself to lenders.
If you want a clear marketing or strategic plan, you need a holistic and deep understanding of your company, customers, competitors, collaborators, and climate dynamics. The 5Cs will give you observations and data to analyze; as a next step you need to transform that data into key challenges and insights.
It focuses on five strategic objectives, the “Five Cs”; Credibility, Conservation, Capacity-building, Communication, and Communities. The Convention outlines the duties of States Parties in identifying, protecting and preserving potential sites, and integrating their protection into regional planning programmes.
Writing that adheres to the 7 C's helps to establish your credibility as a technical professional. Revise the following memo so that it adheres to the 7 Cs; make it clear, coherent, concrete and concise, while also being complete, courteous and correct.
Co-ordination in work is not one of the seven C's of effective communication. The seven C's of communication involves: clarity, completeness, conciseness, concreteness, courtesy, correctness and consider.
Do humanity proud by keeping the seven Cs in mind: completeness, conciseness, consideration, clarity, concreteness, courtesy, and correctness.
One of the approaches that aid students in developing their writing skills is integrating the 4Cs in writing content areas. They are creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
Academic writing is to some extent: complex, formal, objective, explicit, hedged, and responsible. It uses language precisely and accurately.
Past President of NAIS, Pat Bassett, identifies Five C's – critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration and character, as the skills that will be in demand and will be rewarded in this century.
The 4 Ps is one of the most popular marketing frameworks that businesses use. Also known as the marketing mix, the framework identifies the four main elements that are most crucial to customer acquisition: Product, Price, Promotion, and Place (see Figure 1).
The four Ps are product, price, place, and promotion. They are an example of a “marketing mix,” or the combined tools and methodologies used by marketers to achieve their marketing objectives.
Context (or climate): Are there limitations due to political (Trade regulations, taxes, legal issues, labor laws), economic (Labor costs, growth rate), social (demographics, culture, education, etc) or technological trends (does it affect cost)? This is also called the PEST analysis.
The lender will typically follow what is called the Five Cs of Credit: Character, Capacity, Capital, Collateral and Conditions. Examining each of these things helps the lender determine the level of risk associated with providing the borrower with the requested funds.
