The report also found that most of the deprived neighborhoods in the country lie in the north. These include Middlesbrough, Hull, Liverpool, Knowsley, and Manchester. Of the top ten most deprived neighborhoods, Blackpool had ten on the list. It also had eight regions placing in the twenty most deprived areas.
Such areas include: Marfleet in Hull, Hartcliffe in Bristol, Hattersley in Greater Manchester, Everton in Liverpool and Sparkbrook in Birmingham. Eight of the ten most deprived areas in Scotland are in Glasgow, and three of the nine worst in Wales are in Cardiff.
The East End has historically suffered from poor housing stock and infrastructure. From the 1950s, the area was a microcosm of the structural and social changes affecting the UK economy.

West Midlands is UK's child poverty capital with a third below the breadline, shocking report shows. The West Midlands has the highest rate of child poverty in the UK, a new report shows, with more than a third of children living below the poverty line.
Scotland currently has 19% of households living in poverty, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) said. This compares to a rate of 24% in Wales and 22% in England. The Scottish rate has declined from 23% in the mid-1990s to a low of 18% between 2008 and 2013, before rising slightly to its current level.
After taking account of housing costs, on average in 2019-20 one in eight people (13.4%) and one in six children (16.6%) lived below the poverty line. Over three million (3,319,000) people lived in poverty, including 761,000 children.
In 2010, Jaywick was assessed as the most deprived area in England. In September 2015, it was again named as the most deprived, according to the indices of deprivation based on several factors including: poverty, crime, education and skill levels, unemployment and housing, after being assessed in 2012–13.

Cornwall is the second poorest region in the whole of northern Europe and among the 50 poorest on the entire continent, according to data. Figures produced by Eurostat, a European Union data agency, shows that people in Cornwall scrape by on less than £14,300 a year on average.
The key headlines for our region from this research were: In 2020/21, the North East overtook London to have the highest rate of child poverty in the UK, at 38% - up from 37% the year before. This equates to just over 11 children in a classroom of 30.
The Cornwall region is one of the poorest parts of Britain and Europe. Based on national statistics, 15 of the county's 15 parliamentary districts are considered to be among the worst in Britain.
