Central Nervous System Stimulants
Examples include modafinil (Provigil), armodafinil (Nuvigil), methamphetamine (Desoxyn), methylphenidate (Ritalin, Metadate), and amphetamine salts (Adderall).
The most popular stimulants prescribed for chronic fatigue syndrome include: Ritalin and Concerta, which contain methylphenidate. Dexedrine, which contains dextroamphetamine. Adderall, which contains amphetamine and dextroamphetamine.
It is usually treatable with regular and consistent sleep. However, fatigue — especially when it is chronic — is often associated with a health condition or problem. It may also be its own chronic condition, called chronic fatigue syndrome, or myalgic encephalomyelitis.
Medical causes – unrelenting exhaustion may be a sign of an underlying illness, such as a thyroid disorder, heart disease or diabetes. Lifestyle-related causes – alcohol or drugs or lack of regular exercise can lead to feelings of fatigue. Workplace-related causes – workplace stress can lead to feelings of fatigue.
Most of the time fatigue can be traced to one or more lifestyle issues, such as poor sleep habits or lack of exercise. Fatigue can be caused by a medicine or linked to depression. Sometimes fatigue is a symptom of an illness that needs treatment.
Drug Therapies
Antidepressants often prescribed for chronic fatigue include: Tricyclics: amitriptyline (Elavil), desipramine (Norpramin), notriptyline (Pamelor) Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs): citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram (Lexapro), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft)
Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa, and Lexapro, are just a few brands of serotonin that we prescribe for those who suffer from depression, and/or anxiety disorder. There is evidence that these drugs can also improve premenopausal symptoms, even a role in the treatment of obesity and parkinson's disease.
Solriamfetol will be given to those participants placed in the experimental group, and given at three possible dosages ( 37.5 mg, 75 mg, and 150 mg). Solriamfetol is already FDA approved for treatment of excessive daytime sleepiness, and has been found safe to use.
Vyvamind is one of the strongest energy pills on the market. Its ingredients are clinically proven to improve energy levels and reduce energy crashes. It also contains caffeine and L-Theanine, a substance that increases the functioning of mitochondria in the body.
Ritalin in the brain
Ritalin works by increasing the amount of dopamine released in the striatum, a key region in the brain related to motivation, action and cognition.
There's no test for myalgic encephalomyelitis or chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), but there are clear guidelines to help doctors diagnose the condition. A GP should ask you about your medical history and give you a physical examination.
A diet rich in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, avoiding saturated fats and refined carbohydrates—like the Mediterranean Diet—is reported by many people with ME/CFS to be helpful. Eat several small meals throughout the day. For example, three meals and three snacks might help keep energy levels up.
Lifestyle suggestions for fighting fatigue
Increase physical activity – physical activity boosts energy levels, while a sedentary lifestyle is a known cause of fatigue. Physical activity has many good effects on the body and mind. A good bout of exercise also helps you sleep better at night.
Ritalin Could Help in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and/or Fibromyalgia Because. because it increases concentration, reduces stimulus overload, enhances calmness and may be able to increase endurance.
Types of amphetamines: amphetamine, methamphetamine, dextroamphetamine. The different types of amphetamines—and related drugs such as methylphenidate (e.g., Ritalin)—are stimulant drugs. Stimulants speed up the central nervous system. They act like adrenaline, a hormone that is one of the body's natural stimulants.
Prozac (fluoxetine) and Wellbutrin (bupropion) are examples of “energizing” antidepressants; whereas Paxil (paroxetine) and Celexa (citalopram) tend to be more sedating. Initial choices therefore, should be predicated on how the depression presents—as outlined in #2 above.
Prozac and its generic equivalent, fluoxetine, are commonly prescribed by physicians.
The only pharmacy product proven safe and effective in helping fight fatigue and drowsiness is caffeine, found in such OTC products as Vivarin and NoDoz. Each caplet or tablet contains 200 mg of caffeine. Take one dose not more often than every 3 to 4 hours.
Vitamin D
There is a correlation between low vitamin D levels and fatigue. One study found that vitamin D deficiency was more common in people with fatigue, and correcting vitamin D levels in those people through vitamin D supplementation improved energy levels.
If the fatigue is associated with chest pain, shortness of breath, irregular heart rate, or sense of imminent passing out, these are urgent conditions that warrant immediate medical attention.
Chronic fatigue syndrome is characterized by profound tiredness. Symptoms often worsen with physical or mental activity. In addition to severe fatigue, symptoms include light sensitivity, headache, muscle and joint pain, difficulty concentrating, mood swings, and depression.
Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a serious, long-term illness that affects many body systems. People with ME/CFS are often not able to do their usual activities. At times, ME/CFS may confine them to bed.
