Inactive Accounts
Generally, an account is considered abandoned or unclaimed when there is no customer-initiated activity or contact for a period of three to five years. The specific period is based on the escheatment laws of each state.
A bank can close your account without notice for any reason. But most of the time, banks close accounts when the account holder has violated terms in the account agreement. Account agreement violations could include inactivity for a prolonged period of time, repeated overdrafts or illegal activity.
A creditor can impose a travel ban against the debtor even if the debt amount is AED 10,000 (the minimum required amount). Furthermore, kindly note that a travel ban is on a federal level and applies to all of the Emirates and not just one.
You should maintain internet banking facilities in Australia so that you have the facility to pay and receive money in Australia. The banks will have no problem retaining you as a customer, even if you are non-resident, and it will not impact your tax residency position.
