An evil fairy named Maleficent seeks revenge for not being invited to Aurora's christening and curses the newborn princess, foretelling that she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel's spindle and die before sunset on her sixteenth birthday.
Angered because she wasn't invited to the ceremony, Maleficent puts a curse on baby Aurora. According to Maleficent, on Aurora's sixteenth birthday, she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die. Maleficent disappears before she is arrested, leaving everyone in shock and horrified.

She is represented as an evil fairy and the self-proclaimed "Mistress of All Evil" who, after not being invited to a christening, curses the infant Princess Aurora to "prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die" before the sun sets on Aurora's sixteenth birthday.
Emma immediately does some research and uncovers the truth that the woman, Lilith "Lily" Page, is not only Maleficent's daughter, but was once the childhood friend of Emma, who also discovers that fate has controlled her life down to the finest detail, which includes influencing the one friend she ever had.
Princess (later Queen) Aurora, Aurora or Sleeping Beauty is the deuteragonist of the 2014 live action Disney film Maleficent and also its 2019 sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. She is the only daughter and only child of the deceased King Stefan and Queen Leila, and the "goddaughter" of the fairy Maleficent.
The story of "Rapunzel" is based on the tragic life of Saint Barbara, who is thought to have lived in the third century. The true story of Rapunzel is thought to be about a young woman in Italy named Barbara who was so beautiful that her father locked her away in a tower so no men could get to her.
While Maleficent did curse Princess Aurora, it was because of a terrible wrong that was done to her. She regretted it later and sought to avert it, ultimately being successful.
There has also been the suggestion that the story of Snow White originated from the real-life story of a countess and her alleged lover, Philip II of Spain. The countess, named Margarete von Waldeck (1553 – 1554) was supposedly poisoned at a young age, as politics were more important than real love at the time.
Plot. Maleficent is a powerful fairy living in the Moors, a magical forest realm bordering a human kingdom. As a child, she meets a human peasant boy named Stefan, and they both fall in love with each other.
On Maleficent's sixteenth birthday, Stefan kissed her. However, after some period of time after this, he didn't come to see Maleficent. Stefan later betrayed her and stole her wings, so he would be able to become the new king. Stefan later married Leila, Henry's daughter, and she became his wife and queen.
She places a curse on Aurora stating that on her 16th birthday she will prick her finger and die. The Lilac Fairy proclaims that Princess Aurora will not die but merely fall into a deep sleep for 100 years.
Aurora's mother is such a minor character in Maleficent that it's easy to overlook her heartbreaking fate. She only has three speaking lines and is not referred to by name, but she is credited as Princess Leila - a slight variation from Queen Leah in Sleeping Beauty, though her name is not spoken in that film, either.
Aurora remained silent in the second half of the film she originated in, even after being awoken with the kiss. Aurora's dress is constantly changed from blue to pink and back again as a running gag during her film. The constant color change is due to Flora and Merryweather's disagreement on what the color should be.
In both Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, the princesses are unable to give consent due to their lack of consciousness as their princes kiss them in order to “save” them from their slumber (see images above).
In the Disney film Maleficent, the title character reveals early on that iron is lethal to fairies, and that the metal burns them on contact. In the Pokémon games, Pokémon categorized as Fairy-types are weak against moves that are categorized as Steel-type.
Growing up as an orphan in the Moors, Maleficent believed herself to be the last of her kind. As she grew into adulthood, she became the de facto protector of the Moors. One day, Maleficent suffers a ruthless betrayal and deceit that turns her pure heart to stone.
The powerful expression of spontaneous love in turn resurrects Maleficent, causing her to literally rise from the ashes as a phoenix. The dark fairies (who believe the phoenix is the mother of their people) bow to her reverently, essentially treating her as a goddess.
In the past, Rapunzel had two daughters, Anastasia and Drizella, and made a deal with Mother Gothel to be locked in a tower in exchange for the safety of her family. Six years later, Rapunzel frees herself and when she returns to her family, she discovers she has gained a stepdaughter named Ella.
In "Rapunzel and the Great Tree", Rapunzel learns a new song called the Decay Incantation, which allows her hair to drain and destroy life, all while turning both her hair and eyes black.
Brown Hair is the natural hair color of Princess Rapunzel that she has gotten from her biological mother, Queen Arianna, had she not inherited the yellow Sundrop Flower's heavenly magic.
As punishment for her crimes, Ingrith is transformed into a goat by Maleficent, until she can accept the peace between the two peoples. After Aurora and Philip are wed, Maleficent returns to the Moors with the other Dark Fae. She promises to return for the christening of Aurora and Phillip's future child.
Shortly after Stefan is done with his chat with Maleficent's wings, Queen Leila dies of an illness, and she never gets the chance to meet her daughter, who on the other hand is unaware of her identity and was not given the chance to learn about her mother due to Stefan's obsession causing him to neglect her as well.
Princess Aurora is not actually a blood relative of Maleficent – in fact the Princess is the daughter of King Stefan and Queen Leila.
