But misogyny isn't what we're writing about. But what are the bro and the girl code? The bro code is an etiquette between male friends or, more specifically, among members of the “bro” subculture. Meanwhile, the girl code is a set of rules between girlfriends, especially in dating.
THE GOLDEN RULE
The first rule of the code is "pals before gals." This rule of the Bro Code is really tricky. While they say that one shall not date a bro's ex-girlfriend; if the girl makes a move on her ex's bro, it can somehow escape the violation clause.
1. Have your bro's back, no matter what. You're no friend if you cannot watch out for him.
“'Girl code' is the rules of being a woman, especially with regards to dating,” says Ellen Scott. It's stuff like: you can't date your friend's ex, you also can't date your ex's friend. If you saw your friend's boyfriend cheating on them – you'd have to tell your friend.
"Bros before hoes" (that is, "man friends before women") is a well-known, slang expression about how men should not abandon their male friends for women they are interested in. The "bros before hoes" expression is often regarded as the "golden rule" of male friendship, and it has been common slang at least since 2001.
7. Girl bros are off-limits too. A bro is not to make sexual and romantic advances to a girl bro unless to tease her. She is to be seen as one of the bros and not sexual or attractive in any way.
Calling a guy bro could be a way of telling you that she has a crush on you. She might be afraid of how much she likes you and is trying to subdue her feelings. She might also be trying to grab your attention with the bro lingo and convey her feelings through it.
Rule #2: Never go after your friend's crush. Many girls have experienced a friend pursuing their crush. I have been on the receiving end of a friend doing this and it's not fun. The only way this can happen is if rule number one was violated. While a friend can ask to see how you would feel, she shouldn't have to.
The number one rule of the Girl Code is to be there for each other. Having your BFF's back is one of the best gifts you can give.

The Bro-Code is defined as outdated beliefs steeped in tradition, maintaining self-preservation and fear. Breaking the Bro-Code means abandoning these traditions. The first step is to explore the difference between prohibition and inhibition.
Article 90: A Bro shows up at another Bro's party with at least one more unit of alcohol than he plans to drink. So if a Bro plans on chugging a six pack, he shall bring a six pack plus at least one can of beer.
The best thing you can do is just be upfront with the guy who has a crush on you. Bro code prevents his best friend from dating you without an okay from him, but it also prevents the guy with the crush from interfering with you chasing after his best friend, if you tell him you're not interested.
“Bro” might be something she says to all of her pals.
“Bro” is a very popular name to call someone, and you don't need to read into it too much. When she calls everyone bro, feel free to call her “bro,” too. Chances are, she doesn't think much of it, and it's just a common nickname that she likes to use.
If a guy calls you bro, it could mean that he wants you to know you are just friends, he is not in the least bit attracted to you, and he has no intention of taking your relationship further.
It depends on the girl. If she likes you she won't like it. But if there is just friendship between you two then you can call her bro.
It can be harmful to a friendship to start dating their brother, but the issue can be totally avoidable by just avoiding the whole idea and keeping things plain and simple.
Rule#4 never go after your friends crush or ex.
Breakups take time and closure, dating a friend's recent ex can seriously impede their ability to move on. More than that, it may warrant more than a few side-eye glances you're your mutual friends. Before you proceed, be sure both parties (your friend and their ex) have had ample time to get over each other.
The three-second rule is basically this, whenever you see a girl that you want to talk to give yourself no more than three seconds to start approaching her. A lot can happen in those three seconds and you don't want your mind to start wandering into all the possibilities as to why things can go wrong.
The rules are simple, and violations are enforced with shame, humiliation and ridicule: Be independent, self-reliant, tough and aggressive. Pursue achievement and status. Do not express vulnerable emotions, like fear, sadness, hurt or caring.
Good friends are loyal and accept you for who you are during good and bad times. Good friends are also honest — honest enough to tell you when you're not being a good friend yourself. Some people only want to surround themselves with people who will tell them what they want to hear.
What if you like a girl but she suddenly calls you bro? Bro can have multiple meanings, it could mean, “You're like a brother, and I have no interest in dating you.” or it could mean, “You're a cool guy and you got my back”.
If a girl calls you “dude” or “bro” it doesn't necessarily mean you're friendzoned.
She may use “dude” to let you know she just wants to stay friends. A girl calling you “dude” doesn't necessarily mean you're in the friend zone, but it could be a sign she doesn't want anything romantic. Pay close attention to if she calls other people “dude” or if it's just you.
