Some of the most common sins we commit are related to speech: gossip, idle chatter, lies, exaggeration, harsh attack and uncharitable remarks. With a gift capable of bringing such good, we can surely cause great harm! - The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy (Proverbs 12:22).
However, Scripture also teaches us that the tongue is “a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell” (James 3:6). Just as a small spark can start a forest fire, so also can a person's tongue cause a person to sin.
Psalm 34:12-13 – “Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.”
2 The tongue has power to destroy.
What the tongue says comes from the heart –- look up Matthew 12:34-35. A tiny spark can set a whole forest on fire, and the tongue is like a small flame –- look up Proverbs 16:27. An evil tongue can also spread poison.
The prohibitions of the tongue are that you do not lie, abuse, use foul language, backbite and slander. Here Allah mentions that refraining from vain talk is a sign of the successful believers. Allah also mentions refraining from vain talk after he mentions al-Khushoo'.
Surgical resections alone create volumetric muscle loss whereby muscle tissue cannot self-regenerate within the tongue. In these cases, the tongue is reconstructed typically in the form of autologous skin flaps.
Proverbs 21:23-31 In-Context
23 Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble. 24 Mockers are proud and haughty; they act with boundless arrogance.
Because the tongue is all muscle and no bone, it is very supple, boasting a huge range of motion and shape while preserving its volume. “It's kind of like a water balloon,” says Tasko.
The Bible says, “Building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” —Jude 20. Speaking in tongues stimulates faith and helps us learn how to trust God more fully. For example, faith must be exercised to speak with tongues because the Holy Spirit specifically directs the words we speak.
But in 1 Corinthians 14:4 Paul says, “Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy”. Later in the same chapter he speaks of the possibility of all speaking in tongues (14:23) and of all prophesying (14:31).
For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.
1 Peter 3:10. 10 For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.

The tongue is a muscular organ in the mouth covered with a moist, pink tissue called the mucosa. It is involved in licking, tasting, breathing, swallowing, and speaking.
Human words are powerful. Our tongues are small, but they are capable of wreaking great havoc. Any person who could perfectly control their words would be in perfect control of their entire bodies. Instead, as sinful human beings, our tongues are untamable. Our words are fire, igniting the entire course of our lives.
Focus on resting your tongue gently on the roof of your mouth and about a half an inch away from your teeth. To fully practice proper tongue posture, your lips should be closed, and your teeth separated ever so slightly.
Taming the tongue is an important theme in scripture. With our tongues, we can speak to build others up or we can speak to tear them down. We can speak truth, or we can speak lies. Occasionally we say the wrong thing, even without meaning to or, we simply fail to say the right thing.
Psalms 119:72 in Other Translations
72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. 72 The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. 72 Your instructions are more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver.
When even a fool bites his tongue he's considered wise. So shut your mouth when you are provoked— it will make you look smart.
Isaiah 6 1
At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty."
The human tongue is divided into two parts, an oral part at the front and a pharyngeal part at the back. The left and right sides are also separated along most of its length by a vertical section of fibrous tissue (the lingual septum) that results in a groove, the median sulcus, on the tongue's surface.
The bottom line. Tongue splitting is a type of body modification that people do for various reasons. It can be dangerous, even if it's done by a professional. Don't ever try to do it yourself unsupervised, and seek emergency medical help if you experience any severe symptoms or complications.
