Yoda employs Form IV, which is called Ataru. As seen in his battles throughout the prequels, this particular form relies heavily on aggressive attacks and acrobatics, as well as an emphasis on using the Force to enhance their movements, strikes, and agility.
Through the Force, Yoda was considered to have mastered Form IV to its highest level. He used it in almost all of his battles, and his mastery of the style caused others to describe him as virtually unstoppable against most opponents, including Separatist battle droids, despite his small size and advanced age.
Jedi Battlemaster Cin Drallig and Grand Master Yoda had knowledge and mastery of all seven forms, including Juyo, befitting Drallig's role as lightsaber combat instructor at the Jedi Temple and Yoda's reputation of having mastered all forms of lightsaber combat as did Anoon Bondara, another lightsaber instructor.
Practitioners of Form IV included Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, Aayla Secura, Ezra Bridger, the Grand Inquisitor, and Anakin Skywalker. Yoda was a master of Form IV.
Form VII, known by its two primary disciplines of Juyo and Vaapad; and also known as The Ferocity Form, was the seventh form of lightsaber combat. It was considered the most aggressive and unpredictable form.
Form "Zero", while not an actual form of lightsaber combat per se but rather an ethical principle, was the idea that Jedi should know when to use their lightsaber and when to find an alternative means of solving a problem.
Form VIII, was offensive, relying on speed and strength to overwhelm the opponent as well as counter-attack. The defense and precision varied on the strength of the user.
Grand Master Yoda and Swordmaster Mace Windu were also proficient in its usage, as they were said to have fully mastered all the seven forms of lightsaber combat. Master Kirlocca of the Almas Academy was also credited as having mastered Form I.
Practitioners of Form V included Jedi Masters Aayla Secura, Adi Gallia, Plo Koon and Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knights Anakin Skywalker and Ulic Qel-Droma, and Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Bane.
Kylo Ren's lightsaber form was something of a hybrid, which blended three styles together: Djem So, Juyo, and Niman.
Yoda's Lightsaber Form Hints He Was Vulnerable To The Dark Side. With the various forms of lightsaber combat in the Star Wars universe, the form that Master Yoda employs suggests of a possible weakness to the dark side's sway.
Yoda will most likely win in a fight against Darth Vader because he is more skilled with a lightsaber and has the experience and feats that allow him to trim whatever size and strength advantage Darth Vader has over him. In fact, Yoda nearly defeated Palpatine, something that Vader could never do.
Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Yoda's Jedi instructor was N'Kata Del Gormo, a Hysalrian Jedi Master, according to an in-universe legend.
A notable Jedi adherent was Johun Othone, who took full advantage of Form VI's inherent versatility during the pitched battles of the war.
Form 1: Shii-Cho
The basic "form" of lightsaber combat, and described in Legends material as a method focused on letting the mystical force guide a Jedi's movements, has been called "Shii-Cho." Most Jedi characters in the old continuity began their training with this form before moving to something more specialized.
There are 7 forms of lightsaber combat, but Soreso, Shein, and Vaapad are the most effective. Soreso, Vaapad, Shein, are the most effective forms because they are all strategic and have their strengths and weaknesses. But the thing they all have in is that you must fully commit to the form.
Form II relied on careful and controlled strikes instead of power and strength. Count Dooku was a master of this form and trained the Sith assassin Asajj Ventress in its use, though hers was less elegant than her master's.
Practitioners. Dooku trained both Grievous and Asajj Ventress in Makashi. Form II's primary niche was among Jedi duelists who engaged Darksiders, or conversely, Darksiders who engaged Jedi.
A prime example is Kit Fisto. Kit Fisto was a Skilled Jedi of form I who fought during the clone wars. He almost defeated general Grievous using Form I of lightsaber combats. Other than Fisto, Meera Sutrik, and Obi-Wan Kenobi are the notable names to use Form I of lightsaber combats.
This isn't a hypothetical. Cin Drallig had mastered all seven forms.
Like Anakin, Darth Vader used Form V, also called Djem So, but because his mechanical suit severely limited his physical movements,...
At first, Rey primarily fights with a lightsaber the same way she would have with her quarterstaff. However, after studying Luke's Jedi scripture and training with Leia, Rey probably uses Form VI: Niman, a jack-of-all-trades lightsaber form that combines different aspects of Forms I through V.
Form IX: Kadeesh was a Form of lightsaber combat mainly focusing on the use of brute strength rather than Force-assisted movements or fancy and unpredictable parries.
Form VII: Juyo (or Vaapad)
Form VII is the last known form of lightsaber combat and is known to be the most aggressive. Jedi Master Mace windu is the main Jedi known to use this form of combat because Form VII is the most aggressive and only the most Force-sensitive individuals can execute this form successfully.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was highly skilled in Form III. Over the course of the Clone Wars, Kenobi continued to develop his skills.
